There is something so charming about an attic bedroom.  A room nestled into the top floor of a home under a pitched ceiling and the beams and rafters of the roof can be perfection. I found these first few pictures on the blog Adventures in Cooking. Blogger Eva Kosmas chronicled the before and after makeover of her master bedroom in her Pacific Northwest home.  The result is a fresh bright room that marries good modern style with fresh rustic charm.  Love this room and 7 other cozy bedroom attic lofts in this post!

Years ago, back in 2013, I covered this wonderful two toned farmhouse style Hamptons home’s amazing kitchen on COCOCOZY (old post is here).  I loved the striking open kitchen area with a dark black painted ceiling with the color creeping down onto the walls and down below the second level clerestory windows.

Now, I just learned that new photos of this lovely East Hampton kitchen on Further Lane designed by Dan Scotti Design have surfaced!  I spotted the new snaps on designer Dan’s website and on Architectural Digest’s website too.  The home is fantastic.  Still my favorite room is the kitchen…but I am loving the pool area too.  This one is for bestie AM and her hubby JE…take a look at the pool…ideas ideas perhaps for their East Hampton outdoors….

I am trying to plot out my summer plans for vacations.  I want to go some place I haven’t been before…maybe Greece, Scotland, Morocco.  Hmmm…so much of the world to see.  So little time!  And I must add some versatile items to my summer wardrobe to accommodate my dream travel.  I love white lace tops to pair with jeans or a long bohemian style skirt.  A cute light lace top is the perfect summer wardrobe staple for travel.  Light and versatile…casual and dressy.  A must have.

I bought the lace top pictured here last summer.  It is one of my faves…I wore it in the Hamptons when visiting my besties AM and A.Ro.  Now I am in search of some new things for summer (and for more summer travel)…here is a look at some delicate lace tops I am eyeing now. Which one do you like best?

I love a wonderful range hood mounted on a wall above a cooktop.  Most people go for the generic store-bought version that matches their stove.  Typically now-a-days that has been a standard stainless steel or white.  I like the idea of going for a hood with a little trim on it.  If you have contractor creating a frame for your vent and sleeve – make a custom version range hood…trim it with a little wood or some metal.  There are companies that will customize a hood for you online at a bit of a cost.  I love this as an option.  Modern or classic…it can be done.  Just an idea!

My favorite is this first photo designed by E Interiors…simple, elegant, modern and rustic with the wood trim around the bottom. The rest are just some ideas for more traditional kitchen designs but good-looking too!  Take a look.

My style sits somewhere in the middle of traditional and modern.  So a I can appreciate a home that is sleek and streamline while at the same time I can adore a house with traditional touches.  This Pacific Palisades house by designed by Kristen Panitch Interiors is what I am calling “soft traditional”.  It is not hard core classic and it is not modern either.  It has some really lovely soft touches that you might find in a classically decorated home but the designed is finessed.

It starts with the light pink chinoiserie style wallpaper in the foyer.  A nice entry hall that sets the tone for this house tour!

Last night, I went with SFJ to an outdoor movie on the roof of a theater in Hollywood.  It was so amazing. A beautiful windy night, warm, with all of the buildings aglow, rows of lounge chairs and a big screen.  It was a documentary called Gimme Danger about Iggy Pop and The Stooges by Jim Jarmusch.  It was such a great Los Angeles experience.  Watching a rock – proto punk documentary, on a roof top, outdoors, at night, with string lights and the moon!  I had been planning this blog post on great outdoor spaces…last night brought outdoor living to mind.

Now is the time to start prepping a cute outdoor space…whether it is one chair on a porch with a cute pillow or a fantastic outdoor living room or dining room.  Take advantage of whatever outdoor space you have (even a balcony) and live!  Here are a few outdoor spaces, porches and patios in particular, that caught my eye!

I told my friend that I want to design a hotel.  I wanted to buy a small motel and turn it into a cute small boutique luxury hotel someplace idyllic. I suggested that my friend find the project, find investors and then I get to designing.  I gave my list of preferred locations for this dream project. Ideally, I would like the property to be on Pacific Coast Highway here in Southern California…overlooking the water.  My friend listened to me…indulged my luxury boutique hotel design fantasy and then said, “I don’t know about finding you that hotel project on PCH but I can find you a duplex out in the desert in Yucca Valley.”  Hmmm…not quite what I was imagining.

Anyhooooo….that brings us to this lovely luxury boutique hotel in Brisbane Australia called Durham House…a little well appointed and designed resort hotel.  I love love love the adorable black + white cottage on the property.  So cute and simple…some good design inspiration inside and out.
