CHEAP TO CHIC: GARDEN STOOLS – THE BOTTOM LINE ON CERAMIC DECORATIVE OUTDOOR SEATING!

May 21, 2008
  • Share

Pale green Chinese garden stool from Wisteria Wisteria – Garden Stool (pale green) – $129 (above)

Some call them Chinese garden stools others call them “decorative” garden seats- the bottom line is that this summer these ceramic or porcelain decorative stools are all over. These stools can be used as outdoor furniture on a lawn, on a deck or on a paved patio. They come in a myriad of colors including white, pale green, blue, red and with painted designs. Because of all of the designs and colors available, they can be used to accent your outdoor space however you like.

Optional uses: I like the idea of bringing a few of these outdoor garden stools indoors to provide extra seating in a living room. Also can be used as a side table or end table. Finally another option is to use purely for decorative purposes inside the house or out in the garden.

Here’s the CHEAP TO CHIC on garden stools (barrel shape):

White garden seat from Ballard Designs
Ballard Designs – Garden Seat (glazed white ceramic with pierced accents)- $119.95 (above)

Three Chinese Garden Stools from Wisteria

Wisteria – Chinese Garden Stool (barrel shape ceramic in blue, white or green) – $129 (above)
One white and one Dragon printed Decorative Porcelain Garden Seat from William Sonoma Home

William Sonoma Home – Decorative Porcelain Garden Seat (Dragon or white) – $250 (above)

Barrel Garden Stool from Plantation
Plantation – Barrel Garden Stool (Celadon) – $395 (above)

The ceramic may not be really comfortable to sit on for long stints…but certainly these stools provide a dry elevated place to take a rest during a garden stroll or during a socially strenuous garden party! 🙂

The Target.com site carried garden seats a few months ago. Love your blog!

    Great blog!

Personally I like the lite green jade ones. Very understated!

There is a nice little post here on this Chinese antiques website which explains the differences between all these different styles of Porcelain Garden Stools – apparently not all garden stools are created equal which is what explains the variations in price!

Closer look at the COCOCOZY Design House dining room gallery wall. I framed botanical prints from the late 1800s and images from an old 1940s black and white photography book about Paris to hang on this feature wall. Love the way the afternoon light looks in this room. What would you frame for your floor to ceiling gallery wall? 📷: @melissagaylephoto

Time for bed. This is the master bedroom at the COCOCOZY Design House. Love this room and love the bedding by @PomPomatHome. Am so lucky that Pom Pom’s owner Hilde Leighat is a dear friend. She let me pick the best of the best for ALL of the bedrooms in the house. I love the big chunky dark throw and the eyelet pillowcases and the quilted coverlet. Dream bedding. Click link on profile to see more of this room and to check out the bonus room bedding too. Check out the rest of my IG to see other rooms in the house. COCOCOZY Design House living room is one of my favorite spaces in this project. I love the mix of patterns on a neutral background. I was lucky to partner with @article on some great foundational furniture for the living room and dining room. This mid century modern inspired sofa adds a hint of style while also providing a great backdrop for all of the rest of the accessories. Swipe left to see a close up on the fantastic velvet armchairs too. Click link on profile to check out the rest of my furniture picks from Article! 📷: @reidrolls

More from the COCOCOZY Design House! An upstairs bathroom. Was so excited last week to see this bath featured on House Beautiful’s site. White subway tile contrasted with black slate mosaic tile on the floor. The light fixture was initially specified for the foyer of the home but I liked the way it looked in here. I added some decorative molding around the wall mirror and tah dah...high constrast small bath! Thanks to design house partners @totousa deep soaking tub and plumbing fixtures. @caesarstone counters. @lampslus light fixture. @benjaminmoore white walls. 📷: @reidrolls

Things are bright and cheerful inside the COCOCOZY Design House thanks to all the @benjaminmoore Super White OC-152 painted walls. Here’s a glimpse of the dining room before and after the paint. Oh what a difference some paint makes! Swipe left to see the before. BTW don’t you love the decorative grill on the HVAC return. I had to have this made to make an air/heating exhaust look good! 💃🏾Tap profile link for full break down on my paint colors in the house.

Here is the COCOCOZY Design House kitchen as featured on House Beautiful’s website. To see more of the house check out my IG feed or tap profile link for blog post about the @housebeautiful reveal. Love this view of the kitchen. We built this massive arch between the dining and kitchen where there used to be a tiny door only! The kitchen is super functional and pretty. Did the two toned cabinetry thing and the farmhouse sink from @kohler. So funny 5 of the 9 COCOCOZY Design House partners products happen to be in this small vignette! [email protected] - counters. [email protected] - kitchen sink/faucet. [email protected] - lighting
[email protected] - dishwasher
[email protected] - paint (Silent Night lower cabinets, Super White upper)
Everything including the kitchen sink makes this my dream kitchen!
Happy Saturday! Xo Coco 📷: @reidrolls
