Today I bring you a marvelous Hamptons modern home tour.
As you may know, I am in the Hamptons for the long weekend visiting with best of friend AM, her hubby and kids. Staying at AM’s very lovely traditional Hamptons shingle style house.
While I am more of a traditional girl when it comes to home architecture and decor style in the Hamptons, I found this ‘Ocean Pond Residence’ from Shelton Mindel that is worthy of a second glance…and a third glance…and a fourth glance…and so on. I think it may have been love at first sight. This home set on 42-acre oceanfront, pond and agricultural preserve is like nothing I’ve ever seen before and I guarantee this home tour will win you traditionalists over too.
From Shelton Mindel:
‘The Pond/Ocean Residence is neither the retro modern, upside down house nor a McMansion. In fact its footprint is less than 3,500 square feet on a 42-acre site. It is organized in section like a Fibonacci spiral utilizing five continuous levels of activity culminating in a roof top point look out across the sea, farmlands and pond.
In real estate terminology the sire benefits from “location location location” the buildings vocabulary is enriched by the local vernacular,” wood, wood, wood”. The front facade is positioned like a proud bulkhead preventing the sea wall from flooding the potato and cornfields while a continuous open air boardwalk pierces through the building past the pool directly to the ocean. The wood frame beam and column structure is articulated inside and out and the outdoor overhangs, balconies, brise soleils, stairs and decks become as important as the enclosed spaces themselves. The water- color palette of sand and sea seamlessly integrate the architecture landscape and interior.’
Here’s what I love about this Hamptons modern home tour…all of the light, the super neutral color palette, the super high ceilings and that den with the shiplap walls and the wrap around sofa. Dreaming what Summer 2016 would be like if I spent it here…anyone want to join me??
Happy long weekend! Happy Memorial Day!
