TORY BURCH V. THOM FILICIA – BLUE FAMILY ROOM FACE OFF – THIS OR THAT

Today, I am putting fashion mogul Tory Burch and interior design maven Thom Filicia in a fierce face off.  Family rooms where the walls match the furniture. Tone on tone monochromatic or pattern on pattern  – you must decide which is best.

Above, Ms Burch took an azure-blue tree print fabric from Clarence House and upholstered her walls and sofa and chairs in the same pattern…a pattern play that really works.

Below, Mr. Filicia gives texture and a low luster gleam to a library den with cobalt blue walls that match the blue sofa.  Uniform monochromatic. I like.

  1. They’re both great (who doesn’t love blue) but I think the rug in Thom’s takes away from the monochromaticness of it -it’s a busy traditional rug! Wish we could see more of the rug in Torys…they’re both pretty awesome! Happy weekend!

  2. Even though I love Tory, there is too much going on in her family room. Thom Filicia definitely wins with his relaxed library den 🙂

  3. Tory’s is fine…just as long as I didn’t have to relax! It makes me anxious just looking at all that pattern. I like the casual yet “classy with a twist” insouciance of Thom’s room.
