Decorate Your Living Room with Style

August 26, 2019
  • Share

There’s nothing quite like a well-decorated living room. As the center of the home, it’s important to design a space that fits your needs. Everyone needs something different. Ranging from calm – invigorating – inspiring – or cozy the possibilities are endless. I prefer a space that is light, inspiring, and feels like a piece of me. Check out these spaces for some inspiration on how to innovate your space.

LIGHT, BRIGHT, AND EARTHY

share

This space is simply stunning. A beach home that is bright, calming, and full of inspiring furniture and objects. Not to mention the incredible architecture of the room. My favorite decor items of the space are the chair, cozy sectional, and natural rug. It really feels like a curated space of unique objects the owner has acquired.

While this room is also light-colored and bright, the fireplace and furniture selection make this space feel cozier. I love the three-legged stool and the combination of white/cream furniture and dark wood pieces. This space also utilized a natural colored rug and a similar large white light fixture.

This living room is exploratory and homey. The casual nature of this sofa makes this space really feel like someone’s home. I love the use of the three-legged stool again and the wicker basket that doubles as storage and seating. Yet, another natural colored rug here. Definitely, a must-have item to create a space like these.

Beige Throw Pillow, Rug, White Throw Pillow, Lamp, Chair, Stool, Side Table

Here are my top home decor picks to quickly make your space feel light, bright, and earthy like these homes. Adding a few light-colored throw pillows, a light rug, and a lamp is a quick fix to instantly upgrade your living room. If you are looking to invest in some furniture pieces this chair, stool, and side table are a few great additions.

WARM AND ROSEY

share

Refined and elegant, this space also keeps a homey feel. This space has a great structure and architecture. The high ceilings, fireplace, and tall windows shine. The subtle pops of pink and yellow are a nice touch to the space. The gold curtain rods and light yellow curtains really make this living room.

This cozy living room is small but mighty. The black artwork was a bold choice but works well with the very light decor and furnishings. More light curtains here! A very important addition to adding the light and warm feeling to a room. The additions of two pink throw pillows are great here! I also am loving the gold and glass table.

Warm and cozy this space also has a regal feel thanks to the black and gold fireplace, gold mirror, and other warm-colored items. Another glass top table here and it looks great in this space. The addition of a few coffee table books and trinkets instantly make this space feel more personal and lived in.

Curtains, Art Work, Mirror, Rug, Table, Throw Pillow, Bench

To add a bit of elegance and warm + rosey color to your space check out these picks. Having beigey tall curtains was very important for these spaces. Take some inspiration from the spaces and add a dark painting or a gold-rimmed mirror. The use of a grey rug keeps the space from getting too warm colored. Thow some color in with a pink pillow or really commit and add a coffee table or bench.

UTILIZE THROW PILLOWS AND ANTIQUES

share

This living room is refined and regal. The use of light blue is calming yet, elegant. I also enjoy the use of a more refined and vintage looking chair. The gold framed artwork ties together the warmer colors of the space. This living room does a great job of combining new and old to create a space that is current and interesting.

I love this living room. It screams Parisian chic while also being super white and bright. The architecture of the room and the mirror give an antique/vintage feel to the room and it combines with the current furniture well. I really enjoy the simple marble top coffee table with black legs. The use of throw pillows here also is a nice addition.

This space feels very curated to the owner. The books shelves, coffee table books, and other treasures make this space feel like a home. The use of a gold-framed mirror on the mantle makes this space feel much larger. It’s very interesting that the majority of the space is light and the furniture is colorful.

Gold Mirror, Rug, White Mirror, Chair, Coffee Table, Throw Pillow, Couch

Add some color, print, and antique feeling to your space with these items. Adding a gold or white color framed mirror adds a great vintage/antique feeling to a room. Plus, mirrors bounce light and make a room feel larger. If you are committing to having an antique theme picking up a chair is a great place to start! Modernize the space with a marble coffee table, or colorful throw pillows and a sofa.

Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles an Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles and fancy things to make your house a home. In this picture, a plant, two chairs I found at the flea market, a layered rug situation and some modern art...de-cluttered space can be equally as inviting as one filled with memories and treasures. If you are stuck with how to decorate, I say keep it simple. Purge and start with the basics. Full disclosure, this is a shot of my living room from a few years ago when I first moved in...I didn’t even have drapes up when this was taken. I have since added pieces and changed out furniture and added a 2nd sofa...but it started super simple and it was lovely back then. When the world is swirling around us and making no sense, how are you keeping things simple at home? #socococozy #bringstylehome #cococozy
Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last year. Clueless as to what was to come. Was in Paris, with my mom, enjoying her summer apartment in the middle of the 6th arrondissement. I had just left the U.K. visiting friends for a few days in London and the Cotswolds. None of us knew that this summer 2020 would be so different. Today, I can only hope this time of tumult and great divides leads somehow to a future of calm and harmony. Going backwards in time is not an option. Pushing forward is. Happy Sunday to you. Where were you last summer? Where do you imagine you’ll be next? Xoxo #socococozy #bringstylehome
Incredible living room before and after as designe Incredible living room before and after as designed by my good friend Steve Jones @bettershelter! I went on a tour today. I also went on a tour a year ago when he first got the house. See my stories. Swipe to see what this room looked like before. Life lesson from a room transformation: When faced with the daunting and not so pretty, look to do the work, and you can make changes to bring out what is good. Right? This home by the way is going on the market soon and is in one of my favorite parts of town, View Park. What changes have you made lately that have turned bad into good? #socococozy #bringstylehome #remodeling #homerenovation #californiadreaming

Am in my living room right now looking at these pretty flowers in that white urn I found lying around. The urn works (see Flower Power highlights for backstory). Thinking on who I might send one of these bouquets to today as a little act of kindness. Still working on the patience piece of her advice! 🤪 Who might you send flowers to? How can you be more patient with yourself? Happy Saturday!
