Today is all about Fancy Foyers! Much like the front of the house, the Foyer in any home is the ultimate first impression and yes, even in a small space, you should still dress to impress am I right?? That first step into your home should be an experience for all the senses! It does not matter if your Foyer is 5 feet or 1500 feet, it should be a reflection of your style….my cottage has seen many redesigns over the years, but I have always been mindful of that entry way and I continue to be inspired to change things up when I see homes like these (can you imagine, what a dream to design one of these spaces??).
Wide, open spaces are the best for foyers..obviously not always attainable depending on the floor plan but if you have the resources to make your entryway space feel like its’ own room it’s ideal! If you have a smaller space, the foyer is a fabulous place to add a pop or color or a distinguishing detail, like wallpaper or an ornate piece of furniture. Anything to show off a bit of your personality.
Showing off staircases in the foyer is a great way to add scale to the entryway…I recently read this article from Architectural Digest about the Kardashians many, many homes and I really loved the way Kourtney’s entry way took you from the front of the home to the beautiful backyard seamlessly and also made the space feel larger than life with the beautiful table and ornate chandelier…okay off to dream about the next phase of the COCOCOZY Cottage so that I can mastermind a way to create that grand foyer!

I like the first two the best. Foyers can be pretty when they aren’t as big as average NY apartments, too.
