I miss New Orleans. There was awhile where I was traveling there 3-4 times a year to visit my best of friend FF and her family. I would go there for Mardi Gras, for Christmas parties and just for general visits. It is really one of my favorite cities. In fact, FF called me this morning and we had a nice catch up.
All this reminiscing about NOLA brings me to this pretty garden district home that was renovated by former Domino editor Sara Ruffin and her photographer husband Paul Costello. Their stunning eclectic New Orleans home was featured was in T Magazine. Apparently, a few years back, the couple uprooted their family on a whim and moved to New Orleans to remodel this home. They worked with architect Michael Carbine and interior designer Gerrie Bremerman (the same team FF and her hubby CCF worked with on their amazing house remodel years ago) to restore this 1860s built Gothic Italianate home. They apparently left the hustle and bustle of New York for a slower pace in New Orleans. The style factor in their home blends some New York high style, with some Southern charm, with a dash of New Orleans flavor.
Love what they did with it. Lots of drama, elegance, whimsy and design surprises. The super tall canopy bed in the master bedroom is my favorite!
P.S. Now I must get back to NOLA to visit FF. Look out NOLA, here I come!
