Kitchen trends are changing again and now, anything but a white kitchen is in. While white kitchens are still incredibly popular and have been over the last few years, it seems like alternative kitchen color palettes are everywhere. Navy, taupe, beige, green, you name it, it’s in, and they are here to stay.

The kitchen above, designed by Shavonda Gardner, is beautifully unique. Shavonda, a California based blogger and interior designer, used deep red cabinetry, dark grey soapstone counters, khaki colored ceramic brick tailes for the backsplash, amazing yellow floral wallpaper, gold sconces, and a gold pot holder rod across the wall from end to end. She mixes and matches colors that aren’t normally used in the kitchen. Shavonda’s kitchen is chic, stylish, bold and totally not white. This is my pick for “stand out kitchen of the year” actually. I love it.

With that said, we now bring you more not-so-white-kitchens – a trend that is taking over kitchen design.

Neutrals are essential for creating an elegant space. It can brighten a room and make it appear larger. Some people don’t love a completely neutral room. And that’s okay! Transform your neutral room by adding earth tones. Earth tones are colors that can be found in nature. Style your room with natural woods and calming colors like muted blues, greens, and browns. It’s a great way to make your neutral room feel more cozy. Get inspired by Anthology’s living room design.

A dream team in a dream city. Danielle Snyder shared a tour of her West Village apartment. Snyder is the co-founder of the successful jewelry line Dannijo. She hired the best of the best, interior designer, Ken Fulk. Together they designed a space that feels youthful, while complimenting her tasteful lifestyle. Fulk’s design speciality is story telling. He uses a holistic approach to deliver incredible spaces for his celebrity clients. One room that stuck out was the kitchen. Snyder adores mixing vintage pieces and contemporary decor. With Fulk’s help, the West Village apartment was transformed into a stunning manhattan sanctuary.

The kitchen has a nice balance of modern elegance with vintage accents. The design features Waterworks Grove Brickworks field tile that compliments the wood cabinets. Not your average rockstar home! Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo gave the world a glimpse inside their surprisingly minimalist ranch style home. They wanted something that was warm and cozy for their family. With the help of  Clements Design, they were able to create a simple yet luxurious space for even their young daughters to enjoy. Their furniture is comfortable and low to the ground. With their large collection featuring paintings by Rashid Johnson and Sage Vaughn, it adds hints of vibrancy to their neutral abode. The one-story structure is the perfect balance of beautiful design and comfortability.

A unique fact about this house is that it was once designed by Cliff May. May was a famous architect that popularized the classic ranch style home in California in 1932.

The space reflects a fusion of traditional and contemporary elements. The design choices are playful in nature and have a character of their own. The designer worked to incorporate the personality of the homeowner into the space while still staying true to the victorian bones of the home.
