yliving – Frilly by Patricia Urquiola – $302 (Presented by Kartell. Polycarbonate side chair with wavy pattern and shape. Weather resistant)(above)
Lucite, polycarbonate, acrylic – are these all ways to say some form of plastic? Anyone? Any scientist/decor junkies? Hellloooooooooooooo?????
Anyhoo…I like a good transparent chair. They come in so many shapes and colors these days. A translucent chair can be a great permanent accent in a room (let’s say dining for example)…or just some chairs you pull out for a gathering when one extra guest arrives (that guest who did not RSVP but just shows up)…some of these chairs can even be used outdoors!

Any of these see through chairs stand out to you? Do post and tell!
OMG they’re all gorgeous! Love the first one, and the green one is truly special. Why is it we’re so drawn to transparent things? That and sparkly stuff ….
Fabulous chairs! I would love to see one of my Clients spice up their kitchen with chairs like these. Functional for kids, reasonably priced, and great proportions. Great find!
omg, grunge-queen is on to something. Imagine a transparent chair with just a few well-placed rhinestones!!
Coco, Lucite is a trademark name of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). Another trade name for the same stuff is Plexiglas. Generic name is acrylic glass or acrylic.
Dear Coco, do you like the Kartell chair AmiAmi?
Your blog is beautiful, I follow you every day!

I haven’t been able to decide if I like the transparent chair style. I can appreciate it I guess….but don’t love it. Interesting selections!
Love these, but with some hesitation. Fell in love with West Elm’s new Wrap Dining Chair in the delicious Turmeric color…until my friends and I sat in it (guys and gals) and from 5′ 6″ to 6′ 2″, no one was comfortable. “No one would want to linger over coffee,” my favorite hostess said.
All of the chairs posted are great…but.. you left one great cheap option out- the ikea tobias chair in clear or black is sleek and at $99 each you can’t beat it on style, affordability, and comfort.
Love!
I would like to second what Stephanie Ocenas said. I am generally fairly anti Ikea but these chairs are actually really comfortable and seem sturdy. At 99 bucks you can’t beat them.

Coco – would you happen to know of any stores in Southern California that rent out these chairs for events? Preferrably the Frilly, Thayla or Vogue Chair?
