CHIPPENDALE CHAIRS – WHICH ONE DO YOU LIKE BETTER?

March 15, 2008
  • Share

Out to brunch with AZ and HW on Sunday. HW was asking for some chair advice for her dining area. Before we knew it AZ whipped out her Q (the Blackberry knock off that is so confusing and hard to use) and shows us a picture of chairs she loves. They were Chippendale-like chairs from West Elm.

Lately almost every furniture line has made its version of the classic Chippendale chair (classic chinoiserie to modern takes). Even with a million chairs out there like this…I don’t think this look will become cliche.

Not sure I love the Chippendale style but what I do like about it is the juxtaposition between detail and simplicity. My friend AM has a few beautiful white ones in her house and my friend AZ may be looking to put a few in her apartment.

Here are three Chippendale Chairs…from a variety of price points.
Baker Furniture Chinese Chippendale -$2128

JONATHAN ADLER Chippendale Chair – $495
White Jonathan Adler Chippendale Chair

WEST ELM – $179-$249
Four Chippendale Chairs from West Elm

I like the Jonathan Adler the best…old school Chippendale with a hip twist…although the West Elm is a Chippendale-style with clean lines and looks pretty good too.

I wonder what others think….some of my style savvy friends…hmmm…still trying to figure out my POV on these???

BTW, I like these chairs painted all white by the way…keeps it simple and modern…and easy to blend into any room

Do you even like this kind of chair…? Comments…..

    Luxury Discount Furniture

This is the best bargain I have found for a new, Chippendale Reproduction, Dining Room Chair.

It is from Thomaston Furniture Designs.

Hey….I love the Jonathan Adler ones too. It´s such a shame, my mother had some just like the jonathan adler ones….in fabulous retro colour, they were coral with black chinese tapestry….sounds horrible but really, I look back at the pictures of my youth and wish she had kept them! Love your blog by they way, have started from the beginning!
