Elegant Holiday Tablescape in Under 15 Minutes

December 12, 2022
  • Share

I am a firm believer that the holidays are all about family, friends, and traditions. But that doesn’t mean you can’t add a little sparkle to your holiday tablescape too. The best way to design an elegant holiday tablescape as quickly as possible is by planning ahead.

My tablescape style is all about combining the staples with the unexpected…and that sometimes includes holiday flare. The art of setting the table focuses on using practical pieces that are also beautiful. With a little thoughtful planning and a few timeless pieces, anyone can execute an elegant holiday tablescape.

Pick A Color Palette & Prioritize Texture

For this holiday table, I knew I was working with a muted color palette. I didn’t want to add a white or cream tablecloth because I wanted my table to have some charm. If you don’t have textured placemats then find a unique tablecloth that has earthy woven textures. It adds warmth to your table without ruining a muted color palette. It’s effective and budget-friendly. Sticking with a neutral color palette can make the styling process go so much smoother. Less time having to edit and switch out dishware because it clashes with the napkins.

Your Home Staples

I have a collection of dinnerware and serveware stored in my cabinets. I even have a box full of decorative accents that I can pull out for different occasions. So don’t bother trying to find the latest and greatest dinnerware set. You probably have everything that you need at home. Search your dinner sets, silverware, glassware, and other serving essentials to see what is functional for a holiday. You never know what you might find in the back of your closet!

When I have time, one of my favorite things is finding vintage pieces at estate sales and flea markets. These timeless pieces add the right amount of charm.

Decorative Holiday Flair

It’s easy to be festive with floral arrangements! I always love adding fresh flowers to my tablescape. It’s an easy trick to add color and elevate the table. During the holiday season, greenery is always the right choice. Berry bouquets are popular for the holiday season because they brighten up every table without being too bold. Use whatever is available at home including dried roses, pine leaves, pine cones, pomegranates, and even fresh herbs—no need to add more shopping to your already packed list.

However, if you feel like your table is missing something, then now is the time to shop for festive decor. Most retailers have already discounted their holiday collections including Pottery Barn, Sur La Table, and Target.

Absolutely loved this post. I got inspired by it. I recently joined a company named Mehndi PVC that does everything with PVC. Thanks for your posts, I definitely got some new ideas.

A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. It tells you everything about the history of the space. The patina, the pattern, the way light moves across it. These are the rooms that prove good bones never go out of style.

Designer Emma Donnersberg took her own Paris apartment in the 7th arrondissement and used it to rewrite the rules — classical bones, contemporary everything else. Her Wave Sofa and U&Me Table anchor the living room in organic curves. In the kitchen, a green ceramic-wrapped island does the heavy lifting for color against all that neutral stone. And the dining room? A Carrara travertine fireplace that turns stone into the whole point of the room.
Curved, curated, and completely hers. 🤍

A little peek at one of my favorite outdoor spaces, which I designed years ago. The patterned tile, navy seating, white stucco, and layers of greenery make this balcony feel like a little room all its own.
I love how much personality you can create in a small outdoor space without making it feel overcrowded.

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎
