Too often we do something just because someone else says to or it’s “on trend.”
At one point, I was feeling pressure to style my room a certain way just to fit in with what’s happening in the design world — and to that I say poo poo to conforming! My new thing this year is about daring to be different. Celebrating what makes me unique instead of looking at differences as a strike against me. There is a person I work with who is very stuck on being the hippest and coolest — we all know someone who turns their nose up to people who are different — and I just can’t get behind that! Do it your own way.
Anyway, this particular rug is one of my favorite patterns I’ve designed because as I was drawing the shapes, it reminded me of a diamond ring. I think it is soothing to look at and soft to the touch when I get out of bed. Now THAT’S something I want in my personal space.
Originally, I didn’t think I needed a rug at all — mainly because my dog invariably messes up my rugs. Dog moms everywhere can feel me on that.
… Then I went with a really bold COCOCOZY Oxford rug, which I love but wasn’t exactly the vibe I was going for either.

Love your choice!! It’s perfectly you! I totally understand being surrounded by a sea of “this is what’s in so do it” pressures. I’m a nonconformist so I’m with you lady! But can we just talk about that outdoor space, shall we! Having your morning cup or catching the sunset out there must me just magical!! Can’t wait to see your other choices in here!
A bedroom with double doors that open to the outside is basically my dream. Maybe one day… ah, who am I kidding 🙂
