KELLY GREEN DINING ROOMS MAKE A HUGE STATEMENT

Katy Daly and Ashley Manhan’s hip modern green dining room. (above)

Went to a fab dinner party at friend Katy Daly’s house the other night. She invited a group over for a relaxed Friday evening dinner. Was really looking forward to the evening all week because: a) Katy is great and love hanging out with her; b) Katy invited a fun crowd of people; c) same “situation” that was confusing me on Monday when I went table shopping (see post below) was still confusing me on Friday and I needed a good distraction; and, d) Katy works in design (she works for a company that supplies beautiful fabrics to hotels) and love visiting anyone’s house who is in design because it usually turns out to be a treasure trove for Cococozy (this night was no exception).

Of course, I was late. Dinner party was to start at 7:30p and I got there at 8:00p. That is good for me. The delay was due to the fact that I couldn’t decide what to wear. I started out very casual in some J Brand jeans and a cute Marc Jacobs blouse. But then I decided I wanted to wear tights because it was freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzing outside (note: freezing in Los Angeles is defined as any temperature below 70 degrees Fahrenheit…it was 68 degrees that night). The parade of outfits began…what about this huge Theory microfiber pleated skirt and this purple ruffle blouse? No I look like a clown with pleats. How about this black asymmetrical skirt with ragged edged trim all around it with a tight black sweater? No…can’t wear anything really tight these days, feel a muffin top baking right on my waist. I’ve got it…what about this old Blue Cult denim skirt and this red wool sleeveless turtleneck? No, I look like I am a college student in the 1980’s and should have my hair in a high ponytail on the side of my head. And, the parade of bad outfits went on and on…

After about an hour of trying on different outfits…you would think I would have hit gold…well not the case…I finally ended up in ribbed black tights, a grey ribbed Prada sweater and embarrassingly enough a black skort (yes a skort…skirt and shorts combined in one) that I had bought almost 10 years ago while in law school.

Anyhoooooooo….back to the dinner party.

Two silver bud vases with a jar like shape hold beautiful red roses and act as an elegant simple centerpiece on the dining table. (above)

So I arrived at the door in my skort and with a bottle of wine in hand, only to find that Katy lives in a great Spanish style building in the heart of L.A.’s Miracle Mile. Her apartment is gorgeous and huge…stylishly decorated with many wonderful touches. Much to my Cococozy delight, I also found out that Katy has a roommate named Ashley who is an interior designer! Eureka!!!! A night in a great setting with friends and even a few who want to talk about interior design! Perfect for getting my mind off of that “confusing” situation. So before our lovely dinner, I spent much of the time gabbing with Ashley about their cute and well-decorated apartment and Ashley’s design inspirations.

The piece de resistance in their apartment is of course this bright green dining room…filled with flea market finds, vintage pieces, signature modern furniture and treasures from travel abroad.

Love this dining room. Katy and Ashley dared to make a bold statement with the bright green walls and it payed off!

Flea market finds like these clear lucite barstools make for stylish retro accents in the room. (above)

A simple white lacquer West Elm shelf acts as a buffet and credenza to store serving items. (above)

The glass and polished metal dining table is centered in the room by a zebra print rug, surrounded by four Panton chairs (designed by Verner Panton circa. 1960), and finally two leather and polished chrome side chairs act as host chairs at either end of the rectangular table. A portrait of Ashley’s father as a child overlooks the space.(above)

A lovely bright yellow tray table sits in the corner of the room providing another burst of daring bright cheery color to the room. (above)

A black candelabra hanging from the ceiling and centered over the dining room table provide a color accent that ties into the touches of black throughout the room. (above)

A vintage leopard print ice bucket found at a flea market provides stylish form and function in this ultra chic dining space. (above)

Ashley Manhan enjoying conversation (or maybe she’s posing for a picture I forced her to take… I can’t recall) in her lovely green dining room. Katy was in the kitchen cooking our delicious meal so she missed this photo op. (above)
Katy and Ashley…thank you for having me over! Was delighted to be at this dinner party and charmed by your amazing design sense…
Can’t wait to visit again.
P.S. Conversation didn’t just center around decor…it was very well rounded…we talked about books, boys and bikini waxing too. Important stuff you know in these ever so serious times.
P.P.S. Am also hoping that Ashley will become a guest blogger on Cococozy. She just might have her own segment called Ashley’s Arrondissement…stay tuned!!!

Behind-the-scenes: Fun work trip to visit the COCOBehind-the-scenes: Fun work trip to visit the COCOCOZY bedding collection at the Welspun showroom in New York. Met with some buyers, had a fun time with the Welspun team, then capped off the weekend with a visit with friends. It is a long process to get bedding in stores across the country...showing the collections at textiles market is one of the first steps!
If you're interested in learning how I have gotten @cococozy products into stores around the country over the years including in major retailers...follow along...just one entrepreneur's journey. :)

Today is my birthday but...I don’t want to celeb Today is my birthday but...I don’t want to celebrate...I want to help.
I want to make a meaningful impact in our greater Los Angeles community suffering from the fires. I invite you to join me in transforming birthday wishes into support for one local organization on the ground in Pasadena/Altadena.
I have made a contribution today already to the LA Fire Relief Fund created by @victorybiblechurch in Pasadena. They are actively assisting families in need in both Pasadena and Altadena who have been affected by the devastating Eaton Fire.
Although I don't have a personal connection to Pastor DeCuir or the church, I was searching for an organization that is helping in the Altadena area. A well respected civil rights attorney I follow @leemerrittesq is on the ground helping the church members and community members with legal services in the wake of the fires. I hope by contributing to their efforts, we can extend a helping hand to those facing significant challenges during this difficult time
To donate, please visit their website at https://vbcpasadena.org/ (link in bio as well). Every contribution, no matter the size, brings hope and relief to those who need it most. Tell them you heard about them from me.
Your generosity to the Los Angeles community is the best birthday gift I could ask for.

Happy New Year! 🎉✨ As we step into this freshHappy New Year! 🎉✨ As we step into this fresh chapter, I’m reminded of the beauty of starting anew and I like recommitting to goals at the top of the year. Nothing set in stone but just an overall vision of what I'd like to do and who I would hope to help along the way.
This year, my mantra is: **dream big, act boldly, treasure the small joys, continue to lead with kindness and to have as much empathy as possible for others **. Just a few things...😂
I’m also deeply committed to helping people who follow along to achieve their dreams. I'll be curating captivating interior design inspiration with COCOCOZY that will hopefully give you ideas and dreams for your own space. I will also be empowering you to realize the value of your influence with Chirpyest by earning cash back for sharing and shopping. I hope to be open about the journey of the COCOCOZY product line. I want to share real time behind the scenes how the line is being built and how we are growing Chirpyest; both examples of the not so linear journey of building businesses from the ground up. I hope these stories spark you to push your own boundaries and shake out of your comfort zones.
Lastly, in 2025, I’m committed to surrounding myself with people who have a positive vibe about them while striving to be that same light for others. Luckily, I have a great start on this with an amazing family and fantastic group of friends - a fantastic support network.
My wish for you in 2025: May this year bring you clarity, courage, and the confidence to pursue all that makes you happy.
What’s one thing you’re committing to in 2025? Let’s inspire each other in the comments! 💬❤️
Let's get to this...am ready 2025!
