HW has been on the go and doesn’t have a minute to think about her surroundings. She has an ADORABLE apartment off of Melrose in Los Angeles. Each unit is like a separate house…no shared walls and a cute little courtyard area. HW moved in about a year ago and has been traveling for work ever since…now she wants to settle down and warm up her space.
One of her first challenges is she has a small dining area in her kitchen…she is looking to create space where she can eat and work. Right now the space is empty.
I like the idea of a simple Saarinen tulip table (or Saarinen like table…cheaper version available at CB2 for $199 or Ikea for $149) with more comfortable upholstered chairs surrounding it. I might try finding a nice chair leather like the Ella from Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams (below) in an accent color to put in the corner and then surround the table 3 or 4 other chairs like the Miles from Room & Board (below). The softer corner chair would make a great comfy work seating…while the streamline dining chairs would provide seating for guest but keep the small space clutter free.
A great geometric pendant light and some kind of darker rug to ground the space are the finishing touches (I love the Lulu DK print below…I have two pillows in the same design).
