Met Gala Musings & Stunning Dresses the Stars Could Have Worn

The Met Gala – a May New York tradition which started in 1948 as a way to raise money for the Metropolitan museums Costume Institute.  The tickets for last nights Met Gala 2015 ran about $25,000 for those not on Vogue Editor In Chief’s Anna Wintour’s priority invitation list.  600-700 people attend the annual event that showcases fashion and a theme.  Last night’s theme was China Through the Looking Glass.

Well all I can say is that I remember looking at the Met Gala arrival photos in the past and enjoying seeing the beautiful gowns and dresses.  Over the year’s it feels like the once black tie gala has turned into a masquerade ball of sorts.

Mid afternoon the photos started coming in with an early arrival at about 3:30p of  Sarah Jessica Parker in an H&M created dress and headdress and ending with Beyonce sauntering in after 7p in a Givenchy Haute Couture barely there “dress”.

Anyhooo…while seeing some of the phantasmagorical dresses at last night’s event…I decided to pick a few beautiful gowns that I think I would have loved to have seen the stars wear.

I love Style.com’s coverage of the red carpet…complete with a time clock on each picture so you know when the celebrities arrived.

What do you think of my choices…which celebrity do you see in each of these dresses?

Happy Tuesday!

Your choices are far superior to the stripper fashion that was “on parade” at the Met Gala.

I agree with Lori. I don’t understand why “celebrities” want to look so sleazy when they could easily afford something stunning and elegant like the gowns you selected.

I love the choices you picked out. Those runway dresses you have showcased are stylish, elegant, and definitely very different than what most of the celebrities wore. I’m actually a fan of JLo’s dress though in all honesty! I thought her gown was lovely but still very sultry looking.

    the theme was Chinese, right?

it certainly seemed not many took advantage of such a spectacular option for choices
    in style/design,

    wasted oportunity there.
