I recently came across interior designer Sara Story’s website and love what she does. According to her bio, Sara was born in Japan and travels regularly throughout Asia. It seems that Sara likes to implement themes and concepts from her travels in the Far East into her designs…this orange blossom room (as I call it) certainly seems bring a bit of Asia back here to the U.S.The standout design element in this bedroom is of course on the walls. The tree themed colorful wallpaper, with its warm orange background and off white blossoming tree pattern, is made even more lively with lovely birds playing and frolicking and resting among the branches and leaves.
To me, the room is bold and subtle all at the same time. A perfect blend. The lesson we all can learn from Sara here is not to be afraid of combining color and patterns on walls…can make for a wonderful backdrop anywhere in your home.
In keeping with a Far Eastern theme, an off-white upholstered headboard is adorned with nailhead trim in which each nail is set about two inches apart to give this bed a less traditional Western European look. Design, Sara Story. Photo courtesy Sara Story Design. (above)
Orange Hermes boxes are stacked under a window adding to the design and perhaps adding an interesting and innovative form of storage in the room. Design, Sara Story. Photo courtesy Sara Story Design. (above)

P.S. Just spent a bit of time (like a half hour) trying to figure out what kind of tree is pictured in the wallpaper…is it a fictional tree…thought they might be stylish orange blossoms…but could be dogwood, cherry blossom or even magnolia trees? Any thoughts anyone?
