I had to refrain from posting this house for about a month as I realized it would look like I am obsessed with the work of New York architect Peter Pennoyer. When I looked back through my archives, I realized that each month, at about the same time, I was posting an architectural wonder as designed by Peter Pennoyer Architects firm. There was no explanation for why once a month I was finding something from him that I wanted to post. Only explanation it seems is that I am indeed obsessed with Peter Pennoyer’s architecture and design. So there. I’ve copped to it.
Now that we’ve got that admission aside…onto this grand home!
The home boasts a traditional East Coast waterfront exterior with gray shingle siding, black shutters and white trim (above)
A blue library with its arched windows, a fireplace and classic furnishings is the signature space in this home. The shade of blue reminds me of photos I took in Philadelphia’s Independence Hall. (above)

Guests in the home’s dining room can enjoy the stunning view of the ocean from the demilune bay of windows.(above)
The wood carved and paneled main stairs and entry hall. (above)
An exposed beam angled ceiling and more carved woodwork on the railing of the second floor landing. (above)
The cozy fireplace seating area in an upstairs bedroom on the second floor. Room is painted a classic grey-blue with paneling trimmed in white. (above)
A stand alone porcelain tub sits in a arched nook in the master bath…with a magnificent view of the sea.(above)

You are right to be obsessed! The architecture is fantastic! And Peter Pennoyer certainly knows how to include Mother Nature. Look at all the views! (I would not only take a bath but potentially even sleep in that bath tub if the house was mine. What a spot!).
Happy new week, ox Mon
love the turquoise color theme so alluring and adding nature in the post add a focal point to the whole post.
What a gorgeous house! I love the architecture as well as the interior design of it! And that library is stunning!
We should use more these vivid colours!

A little bit of Jeffersonian influence with ship lap ceilings and Sagamore Hill porches. I LOVE it!
My goodness, what a beautiful house, and what inspiring images! I would be thrilled even to live in the guest house, let alone the main building. Haha! Thanks for the post, I’m a big fan of Pennoyer, and I have not seen this house before. I am also a fan of his wife, Katie Ridder, who is a fabulous interior designer in NYC.
Wow, that is some house! That guest house is bigger than what most people call their main house. I would pay $50 just to bath in that bathtub with the view though!
What an amazing property, built to impress. I love the grey exterior and its position dominating the shoreline is breathtaking. Thank you for this. Sharon
So stunning! The library and the porch are my favorites. I love the Maine coast – just pristine!!

Beautiful home! From the outside it looks like the inside would be a predictable New England style home, but they have pushed the envelope with color and light and architecture. So many good ideas! Thanks for sharing.
wow! what a house! even the guest house is nicer than mine! haha “house envy”
I’d love to know the source for that rug in the library!
I know the owner and I have even stayed here once. 😀
