Historical Overview: Copper Beech Farm
A $190 million dollar home! Yes it is true. Built in 1898, this 13,500 square foot mansion sits on 50 acres of land and boasts about one mile of shorefront. It is called Copper Beech Farm. Located Greenwich, CT, a town known for its unbelievable mansions, the real estate listing says this home “has no peers”.
Exclusive Features: What Makes This Mansion Stand Out
Listed by Christies International Real Estate, this estate has 12 bedrooms, 7 full baths, 2 partial baths, a 12 foot ceilings in the main rooms, paneled library, pool and pool house, greenhouse, a beach, a carriage house, grass tennis court, a separate staff kitchen and spectacular water views.
Legacy of Ownership: From Lauder Greenway to John Rudey
The home was originally purchased by the Lauder Greenway family in 1904. Harriet Lauder Greenway whose father helped Andrew Carnegie found U.S. Steel apparently sold it to timber tycoon John Rudey about 30 years ago. Rudey now, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal a few months back, is selling the Victorian French Renaissance mansion because his children are all grown.

What Is The Most Expensive House in America?
In 2023, the most expensive house in America is “The One” in Los Angeles’ Bel-Air district.
It is worth $295 million and is over 105,000 square feet.
My Thoughts
Wow. Wish I could see more views of the upstairs bedrooms in the home. Need to assess whether I would spend my $190 million dollars here. Now…let’s say there was a nice person who decided to give me this grand manse, I would take it in a minute…dress it up a bit and settle in right by the pool or walking the gardens. Would be a great place for parties too. Anyone offering this home to me? Hello? Anyone???
Would you take it or leave it? Do tell!
Happy Friday!

It’s magnificent. I could walk in there right now and feel right at home. I wouldn’t change a thing.
I live in CT. I’m so NOT surprised that the most expensive house is here…especially Greenwich. These homes are amazing. I mean, just LOOK at all that craftsmanship on that ceiling! I don’t think you could honestly find the artisans to build a house like that anymore.
Leave it !
What would you do with $190 Million ?
How about the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina complete with B&B for guests ?
😉
ALL it needs is one fabulous Master Suite and a Guest Suite on one floor and I would be happy. The rest of the house will go unused and I would need a large staff just to keep it clean. The décor is perfection and the view is worth 100 million. So with 90 million left I could….
I would love to see more rooms and the beach. The craftsmanship is superb!
Some fabulous art & probably more!

Stupendous. I’m absolutely in love with the stone and the woodwork.
