Fourth of July Fun Fact
Did you know that apple pie has been a staple July 4th dessert since the 1700s? When the first settlers arrived in America, they were eager for new traditions. Instead of their normal British scones and sweets, their fellow Dutch and German immigrants taught them how to preserve apples and create pie dough. Though other countries have earlier versions of apple pie, the first recipe for apple pie in America was published in a cookbook in 1796.
Happy Fourth of July!
