Was at the famous Rose Bowl flea market in Pasadena last weekend…when I happened upon these vintage mercury glass light shades.
I was mesmerized…loved the texture, the glimmer, the silhouette…everything. They would make wonderful pendant lights over a great kitchen island (needed to be rewired), they could be screwed into a lamp base socket and add some glimmer to a living room or dining room. I thought there could be endless possibilities for these shiny wonderful mercury glass shades.
Oh…one problem the guy would not go below $500 for the four.
I didn’t take them…
Still thinking about them.
If you had happened upon these beauties, would you take or leave?
I’m curious. What would you have done? I want to know!
I’m running off to another busy Sunday…have been up since 6:00a running around town if you can believe it! I’ve already been to Long Beach this morning! Hope you have a nice restful day…please take a nap for me!
Happy Sunday!

That is a great deal! My guy in the midwest makes floorlamps with mercury shades and they are quite expensive.
Take them! They could be gorgeous in the right location.
Take them! They could be gorgeous in the right location.
they are beautiful! and i think that they would look great in a kitchen 🙂
Take Take Take!
Go back and get them,if you are thinking about them still, they are meant to be yours.
BTW, I think your blog is wonderful and I cannot wait to purchase your fabrics and other accessories. Please let us know ASAP when they will be available. I look forward to your emails every day. And I would pick red also, but orange is my favorite color.
I absolutely would have scooped those up! I agree with Karena – would be amazing as pendants over a white marble kitchen island.
It’s hard to tell the size from the photo, but I think I would have taken them. It’s hard to find something you love, so for a $125 each, little premium might be okay.
Love them. Could look wonderful in the right setting!
I would take them…..once prepared and hung, you could not duplicate those for that price.
Definitely “take”!! I can see them in my new black and white kitchen (although right now all I see is subfloor and studs…and not the GOOD kind of “studs,” if you know what I mean).
I did take a nap for you, with a kitty on my head — a kind of purring Davey Crocket hat.
I have two mercury glass birds that I just love so I would definately take em!! I could see them hanging in my kitchen 🙂
These are very lovely and vintage!
There is a reason you did not take them…they are christmasy and festive but may not be 100 % practical…if they were wired and ready I would have and found a spot, perhaps in a mudroom or kitchen or porch area? But I always think if you walk away there is a reason for it. But then again, if I do not have a place to put something I will not buy it! Cheers!
You really should get them. I also think they’d be awesome over a kitchen island, and if the island is large enough I would hang 3 of them. Do you have a back hall entry or mud room? One would look good hanging there, too.

Am I the only one who sees these in a gorgeous bathroom? They don’t seem Christmasy to me—note the new Mercury lamps showing up in new collections everywhere. If you are still thinking about them, and you can envision them in your home, go back and get them. You won’t be sorry.
Love your blog!
Janie
They are fairly rare, and will be hard to find again!
Pam is right, there is always a reason that you walk away. But my theory is if you’re still thinking about them then GO BACK! They are gorgeous and I hope to find something similar when we knock down one wall in the kitchen to create a breakfast bar. I’ve been keeping an eye out for some. PB used to have some ($149 ea., I think) and I’ve also found these recently for a great price

BUT I like yours even better. I say go for it!
A must buy…you’ll find just the perfect spot!!
I think in the right place these could be fabulous!! And I actually don’t think the price is bad for all 4!
They are lovely. I wouldn’t pay five hundred either, though. Too bad the guy was such a stinger!
