WEEKEND PHOTO: WHY A PEACOCK ON A MANTEL ACTUALLY WORKS!

January 14, 2012
  • Share

This post as been updated in 2020 with a new feature image:

I don’t see anything wrong in this space.  Not a thing.  I even like the peacock on the fireplace mantel.  I have never thought I would want a peacock on a mantel…but huh who knew….  I once saw an image of a white peacock on a mantel in a white room with black and white flower print by artist Donald Baechler I think behind it.  I liked it then.  That was year ago.  Now this updated photo in this post with this new look for a peacock on a mantel from Consort Design is just fab.   Love the cement tile surround for the fireplace and the grand peacock resting precariously above it in all of her grandeur!  Great style.

Happy Saturday!

This P.S. is from when this was first posted!

P.S.  Am in Atlanta again today!  Woohooo…am running late.  Am headed over to the Christian Mosso Associates Showroom where I show the COCOCOZY textiles collection year around.  I am here for the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market.  Buyers are liking the new COCOCOZY offerings and we just sold to another major home furnishings retailer…so it is quite exciting!

P.P.S. I ran into so many great people yesterday and met some wonderful others for the first time…including a wonderful COCOCOZY reader and now new friend named Kari O. from Tennessee who stopped by my area in the showroom to say hi!  Kari was so sweet, she is a designer and a lover of interior design blogs…she says her husband is constantly getting after her for reading blogs and calls it her “design porn”!  She was so nice.  Made my day!  Oh also met the very impressive Wendy Estes, one of the owners of the popular online furniture boutique Layla Grace and their new online store Zinc Door.  Wendy and I talked “shop” for a good 1/2 hour.  It was so interesting to chat with someone who has done so well.  Then I had a fun dinner with the whole Pom Pom Interiors team who sell their ever so successful bedding and linens line at my same showroom – the group included Pom Pom owner Hilde Leighat, her nice son Sam and adorable Jackie – we went to some Atlanta brewery that serves EVERYTHING deep fried including deep friend cheesecake!  Gotta love the South!  🙂

P.P.P.S.  Am super duper late to the show room today…gotta run!  I’ll try to take some photos of all of the amazing products and furniture on sale throughout the show.  Here I come!

P.P.P.P.S.  The New York Gift show is in about two weeks and I all of sudden I decided yesterday that I need to add a day bed to our booth in New York because the new COCOCOZY pillows look so awesome on the day bed here in Atlanta.  Hmmm….what to do?  Must find daybed…hee hee…oh yet another thing to add to the to do list…just a little old day bed…

I’m good with all of it, even the peacock but I’m not on board with the artwork above the mantel. The proportion and style does not look right. Would have preferred color, with greens to reflect the outdoors through the windows, in response to this very light filled space as well.

I love the room. A pop of color would be good for my style. I also adore the rug!

Dahhhling I find it a perfectly pleasing room… my favorite (2) things are: the drama of the white peacock & the coffe table, vignette & all!

Oh, that peacock rocks! The restraint color scheme does wonders for the eclectic accessories.

I like the furniture and love the rug, but the b&w above the fireplace is distracting. A peacock – gorgeous!

Definitely like… even the peacock! Maybe not forever but sometimes.. he gives a certain wackiness and eccentricity to a fairly straight space… xv

Behind-the-scenes: Fun work trip to visit the COCOBehind-the-scenes: Fun work trip to visit the COCOCOZY bedding collection at the Welspun showroom in New York. Met with some buyers, had a fun time with the Welspun team, then capped off the weekend with a visit with friends. It is a long process to get bedding in stores across the country...showing the collections at textiles market is one of the first steps!
If you're interested in learning how I have gotten @cococozy products into stores around the country over the years including in major retailers...follow along...just one entrepreneur's journey. :)

Today is my birthday but...I don’t want to celeb Today is my birthday but...I don’t want to celebrate...I want to help.
I want to make a meaningful impact in our greater Los Angeles community suffering from the fires. I invite you to join me in transforming birthday wishes into support for one local organization on the ground in Pasadena/Altadena.
I have made a contribution today already to the LA Fire Relief Fund created by @victorybiblechurch in Pasadena. They are actively assisting families in need in both Pasadena and Altadena who have been affected by the devastating Eaton Fire.
Although I don't have a personal connection to Pastor DeCuir or the church, I was searching for an organization that is helping in the Altadena area. A well respected civil rights attorney I follow @leemerrittesq is on the ground helping the church members and community members with legal services in the wake of the fires. I hope by contributing to their efforts, we can extend a helping hand to those facing significant challenges during this difficult time
To donate, please visit their website at https://vbcpasadena.org/ (link in bio as well). Every contribution, no matter the size, brings hope and relief to those who need it most. Tell them you heard about them from me.
Your generosity to the Los Angeles community is the best birthday gift I could ask for.

Happy New Year! 🎉✨ As we step into this freshHappy New Year! 🎉✨ As we step into this fresh chapter, I’m reminded of the beauty of starting anew and I like recommitting to goals at the top of the year. Nothing set in stone but just an overall vision of what I'd like to do and who I would hope to help along the way.
This year, my mantra is: **dream big, act boldly, treasure the small joys, continue to lead with kindness and to have as much empathy as possible for others **. Just a few things...😂
I’m also deeply committed to helping people who follow along to achieve their dreams. I'll be curating captivating interior design inspiration with COCOCOZY that will hopefully give you ideas and dreams for your own space. I will also be empowering you to realize the value of your influence with Chirpyest by earning cash back for sharing and shopping. I hope to be open about the journey of the COCOCOZY product line. I want to share real time behind the scenes how the line is being built and how we are growing Chirpyest; both examples of the not so linear journey of building businesses from the ground up. I hope these stories spark you to push your own boundaries and shake out of your comfort zones.
Lastly, in 2025, I’m committed to surrounding myself with people who have a positive vibe about them while striving to be that same light for others. Luckily, I have a great start on this with an amazing family and fantastic group of friends - a fantastic support network.
My wish for you in 2025: May this year bring you clarity, courage, and the confidence to pursue all that makes you happy.
What’s one thing you’re committing to in 2025? Let’s inspire each other in the comments! 💬❤️
Let's get to this...am ready 2025!
