YEARNING FOR A PROPER YARD!

May 20, 2011
  • Share
Backyard with four lounge chairs, a pool with a graphic design on the bottom, grass, lots of trees and a stone fireplace.

Simple one…I need a proper yard. Right now, I have a hillside in front of my little tiny cottage in the Hollywood Hills and a hillside in back of my little tiny cottage in the Hollywood Hills. Lots of trees, ivy, wild shrubs, fauna (deer galloping along the property line in the back) but no proper yard. I have a deck and a patio…but no yard.

I want this yard. Pool (with an interesting graphic design on the bottom) surrounded by grass, lots of trees, a nice garden, a fireplace and lots of room to just roll around and lounge…I’d happily take it all!

Do you have a yard I would yearn for? If so, please tell me about it. What do you think of this backyard area…take it or leave it?

Happy Friday!

xo

It seems like it’s always a trade-off between space and location–nearer or further away from the city–and, having had both, I’ll take the latter…but that is a lovely yard.

Yes I have a yard, or rather a jardin. Yes, I love it, and yes, it takes a load of work to keep it looking good.
Your words “hollywood, hills, patio, trees and deer” sound quite magical to me!
Wishing a you a happy and green weekend

I have now been living in New York city for just over 1 year. I love so much about this place. But, what I miss most about California? My yard! This makes me want to move right back home and sit outside for the entire afternoon. Gorgeous place.

Oh don’t hate me – but i have a lovely yard. We live on 4 acres with lots of large beautiful trees, a gorgeous sunset every night and a great pool outdoor area. I too dreamed of having such a space when we lived in a townhouse .. and still dreamed of it when we moved to the next house which only had a tiny backyard. Now we have it all and love it every single day. So hold onto your dream and one day hopefully you will get it.

Oh, and with your love of yellow – I have just done a yellow umbrella so when I get some pics of it, I’ll email you OK (-:

I love this yard! I love the simple rectangular pool with a nice flat yard around it with the planting to the edge of the property. I have a gross yard, we have been working on the interior of the house since we moved in. Next the roof and exterior painting, then we’ll tackle the back yard. It’s a wild field right now 🙁 I just look at inspirational photos right now, planning planning…

Yards are not all sunshine and parties… 🙁 Ours is large and takes tons of time to keep up. Sometimes I wish for one we could ignore on the weekends.

    Love that photo, though!

Take it! I designed my pool to be surrounded by stone walls as I cherish privacy. I work like a crazed woman during the week end on my garden, the front lawn alone takes an hour and a half to mow! But i would not trade a garden for anything in the world.

I am on the same page with you. We do have the space for a pool, but our yard is all tiled up. I do have a small fountain that I’m going to convert to a kiddie wadding pool for the little one. That’ll have to do for now, but I am dreaming and collecting inspirations for my dream pool. This is one, with all that grass, love.

I have to say, that my yard is probably the best part of my home. If not for the yard, I would trade in the 1880s ancient farm house for something more modern. But the yard is divine… 10 acres surrounded on three sides by state park. It doesn’t get much better.
