10 Summer Vacation Essentials

July 5, 2017
  • Share

I am in Paris right now and this evening I leave for Greece.  So far, my summer vacation has been wonderful.  I got to Paris on Friday to visit my sweet mother at her beautiful summer apartment in the 6th arrondissement on Rue Condé.  Best of friend AT came via the Chunnel to spend time with me here.  Then on Sunday, I took a whirlwind day visit to London with AT. I got to see where she lives with her boyfriend HH and we also were on a top secret mission doing some market research!  Came back to Paris for a few more days of lounging…and then off to Greece to meet sis DS and her guy in Athens then Santorini!

All this to say…I have dreams of being a light packer.  And that is what this post is about.  I, however, in all honesty, did not pack lightly!  I wish I had.  I am now bogged down with a huge bag but I am just wearing the same 10 things over and over again.   In order to help you avoid my packing mistakes, we pulled together 10 summer vacation essentials to help you for your holiday travel!

Hope you had a great holiday weekend!

The bouclé sofa isn’t a trend, it’s a commitment. The bouclé sofa isn’t a trend, it’s a commitment. Soft, sculptural, and impossible to walk past without wanting to sit down. The rooms that get it right pair it with something unexpected: a dramatic mural, an antique screen, a city skyline, a hand-laid mosaic floor.
Which bouclé sofa room would you want to sink into? Drop your answer 👇

A well-designed bunk room isn’t just for kids. It’s about making every guest feel like they got the best bed in the house. Built-in storage, thoughtful lighting, and bedding that actually makes you want to climb up top.
Save this for your next build or renovation inspo and follow for more. 🖤

This Toronto home just redefined “warm modern.” 🤎 This Toronto home just redefined “warm modern.” 🤎
Designer Ashley Montgomery layered reclaimed wood beams, brass hardware, and deep walnut millwork against soft plaster walls, and somehow every single room still feels calm. The olive built-ins in the living room, the arched oak doors, that brass shower enclosure in the primary bath... this is what happens when someone actually commits to a palette.

How much summer can you fit into a few days? ☀️⛵️How much summer can you fit into a few days? ☀️⛵️
I flew from Los Angeles to Nantucket for a very quick trip and I’m planning to find out.
Beautiful beaches, boats, gorgeous interiors, time with friends and one last little dose of August.
Turns out you don’t always need a whole week to feel like you got away. 🤍
So happy to be visiting bestie @francesgfayard and her husband Calvin and my godson Carter for a little last minute end of summer travel. New England at its best. Day 1 was a beautiful day. 🤩
You are not going to feel motivated every day. AndYou are not going to feel motivated every day. And you don’t have to.
Some days you’ll feel inspired and everything seems to click. Other days, you’ll question what you’re doing and wonder if any of it is actually working.
The important thing is not to mistake a slow day for a step backward.
You can keep going even when the motivation isn’t there. Some days, showing up is the progress.
Save this for the days when you need the reminder. 🤍
