15 Gifts for Your Home This Holiday Season

October 27, 2021
  • Share

I’ve already started to do my own holiday shopping – at least a little of it.  Since I’ve been so busy with work, for the first time ever, I figured I should get ahead and start finding gifts for my friends and family members. I even started to find some gifts for myself.:)  To my detriment, I often think about myself when shopping for others. I know. Not cool. Not only is it selfish but this can also be a very problematic way of holiday shopping as it increases the volume of items you are buying.  One for them, two for me.  One for her, three for me.  The picture of my patio above features some of the giftable items I bought on my latest supposed holiday shopping trip –  items to either keep or to gift. For example, loving these cute baskets, napkins, mugs, and even a coffee maker.   Do you do that too?  Spy items that could make good gifts and then buy them for your own home?  Well here’s what I found on this holiday season online shopping trip…

During the pandemic, I started drinking coffee obsessively for the first time in my life.  I have always been a devout tea drinker but took a turn in March 2020 to coffee.  So, that being said, I now finally get all of my family and friends who are avid coffee lovers.  Thought all of these coffee related gifts could make for a nice morning by a fire at home.  So…I will get some mugs for “them” and then I bought a coffee maker for me…:) LOL!

My new Keurig Coffee Maker from Walmart.

This whole haul came from Walmart Home – they have a good selection of must-have gifts!  I am impressed with the cuteness I found.  I definitely got distracted and bought some Pioneer Woman mugs and plates for an outdoor coffee date on my patio. They have a wide selection of stylish and affordable kitchen accessories that will make great gifts for the holidays.

I think I might gift someone a set of these four white mugs; I think they are good for sipping a hot drink by a toasty fire this winter!!

Okay…so the theme continues…a little gifting for myself has actually inspired a great gift for one of my friends!

I found this wick jar candle.

One of my friends came over for lunch. I thought it would be a cute idea to create a vibrant outdoor table for us to drink coffee and catch up on old times.

Now…here is a total holiday shopping – non-sequitur…I was diving so deep into my little online shopping trip…I got into vacuum cleaners. Shopping for me but thinking could this be a gift?  I am doing a ton of entertaining (hopefully) this holiday season, so cleaning and house supplies are always needed.   I wonder if I could give a vacuum cleaner to someone as a gift?  Is that weird?  Thinking…

A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. It tells you everything about the history of the space. The patina, the pattern, the way light moves across it. These are the rooms that prove good bones never go out of style.

Designer Emma Donnersberg took her own Paris apartment in the 7th arrondissement and used it to rewrite the rules — classical bones, contemporary everything else. Her Wave Sofa and U&Me Table anchor the living room in organic curves. In the kitchen, a green ceramic-wrapped island does the heavy lifting for color against all that neutral stone. And the dining room? A Carrara travertine fireplace that turns stone into the whole point of the room.

A little peek at one of my favorite outdoor spaces, which I designed years ago. The patterned tile, navy seating, white stucco, and layers of greenery make this balcony feel like a little room all its own.
I love how much personality you can create in a small outdoor space without making it feel overcrowded.

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎
