6 Unique Range Hood Inspirations To Elevate Your Kitchen

January 27, 2023
  • Share

I think range hoods are underrated or maybe even underappreciated. People tend to focus a lot of their energy on countertops and cabinetry, but what makes a beautiful kitchen design is the details! One of the most important aspects to consider when designing your dream kitchen is the range hood. It not only serves a functional purpose by removing smoke and odors from your cooking area, but it can also be a stylish and one-of-a-kind feature that improves the overall aesthetic of your space. Instagram and Pinterest are great places to find stylish and unique range hoods. I rounded up some of my favorite unique range hood designs. Whether you want a sleek and modern one or something classic with a bold twist, see my picks below.

1. Brass Trim Range Hood

Do you want something glamorous but not too bold? Brass is a warm, classic, and elegant material, but can sometimes be too flashy for a minimal kitchen design. That’s why a range hood with brass trim is a unique technique to transform a black, white, or gray range hood. It takes it from basic to beautiful. The featured image above is a photo from my friend Linda’s first kitchen renovation.

2. Marble Clad Range Hood

A marble-clad range hood adds a touch of luxury and elegance to any kitchen design while also providing a durable and easy-to-clean surface for your range hood. It’s also important to note that marble is a naturally heat-resistant material.

3. Convex Curved Range Hood

A custom convex curved range hood adds a unique shade to a modern kitchen. It also improves airflow and ventilation, making it easier to remove smoke and cooking odors.

4. White Metal Range Hood

The white metal has a clean, classic appearance that will complement any kitchen design. It is long-lasting and durable, able to withstand the high heat and humidity of a kitchen. A design perk of a white metal range hood is that it reflects light, making the kitchen appear larger and brighter.

5. Crown Molding Range Hood

Crown molding adds a touch of sophistication to the kitchen design. It can help to blend the range hood seamlessly into the cabinetry.  Adding crown molding is a great technique to hide any gaps or unevenness between the range hood and the cabinetry.

6. Elegant Range Hood Nook

A range hood nook is a built-in space designed specifically for a range hood, giving the kitchen a clean and seamless appearance. Because the range hood is tucked away, it doesn’t project as far as a traditional range hood. It can also increase kitchen storage space by storing pots, pans, or other cooking tools in the nook.

7. Modern Black Steel Range Hood

Black steel has a sleek and modern appearance that will complement any modern kitchen design. Black steel can add a striking visual element to the kitchen, making it the focal point of the space.

A one-of-a-kind kitchen design can reflect one’s personality. A kitchen with a bright and colorful backsplash, for example, may reflect the personality of someone who is outgoing, lively, and loves to make a statement. The use of mixed materials and textures, such as wood, concrete, and stainless steel, may indicate a person who is eclectic, experimental and enjoys mixing things up. That’s why I think a unique range hood design can make or break a kitchen. It’s about discovering the right style. I always enjoy closely observing new kitchen designs. Everything you need to know about a person is right in the details.

Coco

Summer is when this courtyard really comes alive.Summer is when this courtyard really comes alive. 🌸
One thing I’ve learned is that every outdoor space needs a focal point. It gives your eye a place to land and makes the whole space feel more intentional.
In this courtyard, the bougainvillea naturally becomes that focal point, adding color, height, and movement without overwhelming the space.
If you’re designing your own patio or garden, start with one standout feature, then let everything else support it.
Save this tip for your next outdoor project. ✨

Design by @covetnoir. A 1750 Georgian home in Surr Design by @covetnoir. A 1750 Georgian home in Surrey, restored back to its former grandeur.
Grade II listed and stripped of most of its original character by previous owners, this 9,000 sqft home with seven bedrooms, and five bathrooms was brought back to life for a French-Swedish couple raising two young kids here. The brief: Parisian luxe with a Scandinavian twist, and a design calm enough to keep the grand proportions feeling intimate.
Covet Noir rebuilt what had been lost: full plasterwork, raised & fielded panels, a bespoke decorative ceiling, and added a cantilevered limestone staircase with Nero Marquina cabochon inlay in the entrance hall. The material palette leans into marble and alabaster, softened with boucle and brushed cottons, chosen to hold up to two kids and two dogs without losing the elegance. Antique furniture and architectural fittings were sourced throughout to keep the project sustainable, alongside ground source heating.
Grand bones, calm hand. This is the kind of restoration we could look at all day. 🤍

Before you start moving furniture, ask yourself thBefore you start moving furniture, ask yourself these three questions:
Does this improve the room’s function?
Does it create a better focal point?
Does it make the space easier to walk through?
If the answer is “no” to all three, maybe it’s just the rearranging itch talking. 😅

A 90s home in Amman, Jordan, entirely remodelled by local artisans. Neo-Florentine bones, Levant-eclectic sensibility, arched passageways, and a flea-market-meets-commissioned-art collection that makes every wall feel intentional.
What makes it work: restraint where you’d expect excess, and boldness where you’d expect safety.
This is what happens when a home is built by people who actually know the place. 🖤
Save this, it’s a masterclass in culturally rooted design.
