9 PRETTY PORCHES

May 9, 2014
  • Share

When I was young, my mom and dad would take me and my sister over to my grandmother’s house for long visits…there is one thing I remember vividly – sitting on the porch with my grandmother talking, playing and watching the story of the neighborhood unfold. My grandmother’s house was where everyone stopped by to say hi. She was the most friendly loving woman in the world and everyone in the neighborhood knew it – from young families, older people, kids, teenagers and even dogs and cats would stop by my grandmother’s porch to greet her. She always welcomed anyone with a warm “hello” and “come on up” and a cordial and warm chat. I have always dreamed one day of having a large gracious porch to sit, read, relax, converse and welcome people to my house. Such a wonderful tradition, I miss it.

Anyhoooo…that brings me to today’s post. There is nothing like a pretty porch. A sweet pretty porch. No need for it to be too high design or ultra modern…all it needs to be is sweet, pleasant and wonderful. I realize that it is not the things on the porch that make it great…it is the people on the porch that can make one the sweetest place on earth.

Here are 9 cute porches, I wouldn’t mind visiting!

Happy Friday!

Love the porches- inspirational! Just discovered your blog & count me as an avid follower from now.
Could you please tell me where you got the turquoise artwork in your living room behind the couch? Also, did you keep the rug. Can’t find an update. Thanks.
