A NEW “BEEN DONE” CHAIR TO RAVE ABOUT

July 15, 2008

Mademoiselle chair by Philippe Starck in an elegant foyer Photo by Starck Ting (above)

Some in the “interior design” world might find this post passe….but I am a lay person who is simply discovering home furnishings I like and then writing about them. The reason I say this…is that this little chair pictured above and below was all of the rage way back when it was introduced by Kartell back in 2005. Well for me, in this world, this chair is having a revival!
This is the Mademoiselle chair by Philippe Starck for Kartell…I saw this chair for the first time a few weeks ago when I was shopping at the Kartell store on Robertson Blvd. here in West Hollywood.
Over the last few years, the Mademoiselle Chair has been written about, featured, talked about and lauded by the design world…but not by Cococozy! I love being out of step with the times…kind of charming…right?!#$%

This small somewhat dainty chair comes in a variety of colorful fabrics including covered in this cheery blue and pink print above and in this bright kaleidescope like Missoni floral fabric featured below.

With clear polycarbonate legs (nice way of saying plastic legs or some say lucite) and a fabric seat, this armchair is versatile and can be used so many settings.

Check out the photo I found above from a Starck enthusiast. In the photo above, the chair is featured against a wall in a very classic setting next to a gold leaf console, chinoiserie lamp and walls covered with decorative molding and paneling.

It is warmer here now, but these were the looks I It is warmer here now, but these were the looks I reached for in Paris when the days were still cold. ❄️
I remember building each outfit around a coat or a scarf, with comfortable shoes that could take me anywhere, knowing I would be out for hours just walking.
Nothing overthought, just pieces that felt right for the pace of the day.
What would be your OOTD for a cold day in Paris?
If you want to shop these looks, comment SHOP and I will send you the link.

A little softness, a little sheen, and suddenly the room feels lived in and elevated.

It started with an invitation. I met @hugobesnier_ It started with an invitation. I met @hugobesnier_ , founder and designer of luxury furniture brand @hartisparis_ at a small gathering in the 7ème, near the Musée d’Orsay. I was there with my new friends, Scarlette and Sarah.
The apartment itself was incredible! Tall ceilings, terrazzo floors, right along the Seine, but what really stood out was the furniture.
Turns out, it was Hugo's exquisite work.
The pieces are designed around everyday gestures: sitting, leaning, resting, but interpreted in a way that feels elevated and intentional. There’s a balance of structure and softness, where architectural lines meet more organic textures and forms.
He invited me back the next day to see everything more clearly, outside of the party setting, and it completely changed how I experienced it. The pieces feel intentional and refined, with a strong focus on material and form.
Sharing a closer look at his work here.
My Paris dream life keeps happening again and again!
