Interior Inspiration

Are Interior Designers Worth It

March 15, 2023

Maybe you’re thinking about redecorating your space. Or just built a beautiful new home, but need furniture to fill an empty room. Hiring an interior designer would be the next step, but are interior designers worth it? Interior designers aren’t cheap. Many COCOCOZY readers are super design savvy. So you are probably thinking that you can easily decorate your home by yourself. I’m sure some of of you can. However, there are several reasons why hiring an expert is actually worth it!

1. Avoid Expensive Mistakes

Working with a professional will help prevent amateur mistakes. Working with a professional who knows how to plan for a renovation and has years of experience in the design industry will help keep your project on track and under budget. An expert designer isn’t just someone who will style your home. They can also act as a project manager to ensure the renovation is efficient and budget-friendly.

2. Designer’s Perks

Interior designers build relationships with other professionals and some of your favorite retailers. They have access to painters, vendors, contractors, retailers, and other perks that normal people don’t have access to. They can find the best deals on luxury items or find dupes to achieve the same look. The best interior designers are able to source vintage pieces or unique items to make your design dreams a reality.

3. The Eye of A Designer

For those who need refinement or inspiration, working with an interior designer will help pinpoint your ideal design for your home. They have a trained eye and can create an effortless space that you might not be able to do on your own. Designers have spent years researching different styles and experimenting with different materials. They can alleviate the frustrations of the design process. It’s helpful to have a knowledgeable collaborator to help select color schemes, fabrics, furniture, and finishing touches. Also, it’s a huge benefit to have someone refine your style when you have too many design ideas.

4. Increase House Value

Working with an expert will help make the right design choices to ensure your interior design investment will increase the value of your home. The best rooms to renovate are the kitchen and bathroom. They will increase the total value of your home when it’s time to sell it. However, the materials you choose are just as important. Just because a material is the most expensive doesn’t mean you will get a return on your investment. An interior designer will curate a home that is attractive to potential buyers and align with the price point in your neighborhood.

5. Elevate Your Home

If you’re looking for someone to elevate a basic room into a “wow” factor that impresses every guest that walks in, then you need to hire an interior designer. A professional will be able to think outside of the box. They can create a vision board of all of your ideas and condense it into one cohesive style. An interior designer has the ability to understand their client’s personalities and listen to their design goals. Then the designer can transform the space into the client’s desired final result.

Are Interior Designers Worth It?

So are interior designers worth it? It depends on the scope of the project and what you’re dream result entails. Is it a realistic goal? Do you have the budget to achieve that goal? You don’t have to break the bank with a top interior design firm. Check local social media channels to find an interior designer in your area. Ask a friend to find a referral. You can even just work with an interior designer as a consultant. Sometimes it’s best to get the advice of a professional to make sure you’re on the right track. Regardless of what you end up choosing, you can’t go wrong with working with a professional interior designer.

A well-designed bunk room isn’t just for kids. It’s about making every guest feel like they got the best bed in the house. Built-in storage, thoughtful lighting, and bedding that actually makes you want to climb up top.

This Toronto home just redefined “warm modern.” 🤎 This Toronto home just redefined “warm modern.” 🤎
Designer Ashley Montgomery layered reclaimed wood beams, brass hardware, and deep walnut millwork against soft plaster walls, and somehow every single room still feels calm. The olive built-ins in the living room, the arched oak doors, that brass shower enclosure in the primary bath... this is what happens when someone actually commits to a palette.

How much summer can you fit into a few days? ☀️⛵️How much summer can you fit into a few days? ☀️⛵️
I flew from Los Angeles to Nantucket for a very quick trip and I’m planning to find out.
Beautiful beaches, boats, gorgeous interiors, time with friends and one last little dose of August.
Turns out you don’t always need a whole week to feel like you got away. 🤍
So happy to be visiting bestie @francesgfayard and her husband Calvin and my godson Carter for a little last minute end of summer travel. New England at its best. Day 1 was a beautiful day. 🤩
You are not going to feel motivated every day. AndYou are not going to feel motivated every day. And you don’t have to.
Some days you’ll feel inspired and everything seems to click. Other days, you’ll question what you’re doing and wonder if any of it is actually working.
The important thing is not to mistake a slow day for a step backward.
You can keep going even when the motivation isn’t there. Some days, showing up is the progress.
Save this for the days when you need the reminder. 🤍

The best parts of Paris might not be on your itineThe best parts of Paris might not be on your itinerary. 🇫🇷
Some of my favorite travel moments are the ones you don’t plan: the pretty street you turn onto, the café you notice while walking by, the building you stop to look at for no particular reason.
So if you’re planning a Paris trip, don’t fill every hour. Leave room to wander.
