BARE WALLED BEDROOMS – SIMPLY SERENE SLEEPING!

I am in vacation recovery mode (VRM). I am trying to be interested in everything here in Los Angeles…but I really don’t care. I just want to be back on the beach of Los Cabos. Yesterday I went to a fab book signing for the amazing interior designer Mary McDonald. It was being held at Nathan Turner’s darling shop in West Hollywood. I didn’t care. Yesterday at work, we had a big deal close, I didn’t care. Drink plans were canceled on me, I didn’t care. I just care about Los Cabos, Las Ventanas and my spot by the pool. Maybe I should call it Postpartum Vacation Syndrome (PPVS).

Oh and on top of all my VRM and PPVS, I haven’t been able to get a good night’s sleep since being back all of one day. I was up until 4am watching Training Day with Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington the other night on HBO. Basically it is the story about a guy going to his first day of work with a really mean boss…I normally would not watch a movie like this but I was enthralled…part of VRM and PPVS I guess.

So I need sleep. I need to be back on vacation. Most realistically attainable will be sleep…so here are some soothing bedrooms.

All these bedrooms have pretty much bare walls…still they are lovely…I like the idea of keeping the bedroom simple and serene.

Lavender attic bedroom with a black desk with a white top, black chair, roman shades and an metal bedframe

Bedroom with a fireplace, three windows with long white curtains with blue ties, a blue velvet armchair and woven ottoman, the bed has a large black headboard and the bedding has blue trim

I like the Laura Kirar bedroom the best. I love those closets. Which do you prefer?

Happy Friday!

I am off to work.

I have to agree that it would be very difficult to work when the beach is calling! VRM can be very difficult to overcome! Good luck and have a great weekend!

    I like the Laura Kirar room the best. Well accessorized and detailed .. simple serene describes it perfectly. The others miss the mark in achieving that emotion;
    McGill — hotel
    McMillen — staged to sell
Cannet — feels as if the owner can’t decide what to do with the fireplace.

There something to be said about serene bedrooms. I love color, but clearly sleep better in a muted peaceful look!

Beautiful rooms! That Mary McDonald book signing had to be a TREAT! Her new book is fabulous! So sorry you weren’t that into it! I would have gladly taken your spot!

Did you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-ÉlyséeDid you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-Élysées closes to traffic entirely?
No cars. Just people, walking straight down the center with the Arc de Triomphe ahead. Then I walked home over The Seine. It had just rained, and the sky was doing something extraordinary. And of course, the Eiffel Tower showed up right on cue.
Paris on a quiet Sunday is something else. 🖤

This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millo This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millory @felixmillory , is defined by two things: a tightly controlled material palette and a sculptural art collection that runs through every room without exception.
Travertine frames every doorway. Dark smoked oak covers the joinery and cabinetry. Grey marble runs across the kitchen counters and island. Within that framework, figurative sculptures on the shelves, a large totemic piece at the entrance, stone forms on the dining table, a large-format artwork in the kitchen. Every room has at least one object that demands your attention. 🗿
→ Save this if you’re designing around a sculpture collection.
