Bianca’s South of Spain Travel Guide

July 8, 2022
  • Share

Hi everyone, Colette is starting a team takeover on her blog to share some of our favorite topics! My name is Bianca and I am the Marketing Assistant at COCOCOZY/Chirpyest. I am taking over today to share with you one of my favorite travel destinations – the south of Spain! I stayed in Seville, Spain for a month while studying abroad in college. This city in southern Spain is full of rich culture and history. While there I also got to visit other cities such as Granada and Cádiz.

Known for their delicious sangria, flamenco dancing, and the hot heat – I am going to be sharing with you some of my favorite places to visit in the south of Spain.

Seville

I could go on and on about how beautiful Seville is – from boat rides on the river to the historical buildings. The endless nights dancing or days learning to create Spanish dishes. But I’ll be honest my favorite thing was their sangria. Yes… Spanish wine is like no other, I pretty much had a glass at every meal no matter the hour. The most refreshing and sweet staple that tasted wonderful at every restaurant I went to!

Real Alcázar de Sevilla – Known for its tile decoration, the royal palace was built with gothic and romanesque elements. With gorgeous Islamic architecture and several luscious gardens – the Royal Alcázar is a must-see.

Plaza de España – If you’re a fan of Star Wars you’ll want to visit this location where a scene was filmed. This landmark is both known for its beautiful architecture and fun activities. If you take a stop on a bike tour around the city this will definitely be a stop. Or you take a boat ride along the building, which has tiles representing different providences of Spain.

Shop Seville Style

Another thing I learned is that my version of casual style does not equate to their version of casual. No matter what time of day or how high the temperature may get, those living in the south of Spain are always dressed to the nines. I learned the hard way walking to class in a t-shirt and running shorts, that nobody else seems to care for comfort over style. Making it obvious that I was an American, I would be in awe of those around me wearing jeans, maxi dresses, and hats in the 95-degree weather.

The style in Seville is a mix of European with a hint of North African. As the south of Spain is located close to North Africa, there is a lot of Moroccan inspiration in both the architecture and fashion. They love ruffles and textures, bold jewelry, and dresses – with floral and fun patterns.

Granada

Located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains – Granada has beautiful Medieval architecture and landscape. But my personal favorite thing about this city is their tapas. Want three drinks? No problem because with each one comes to a free appetizer so you don’t even have to order a meal. It is one of the few places in Spain that serve free food with every drink you order!

Alhambra – Another palace located in the south of Spain that is heavily influenced by Islamic architecture. This large and beautiful complex is filled with colorful gardens. Walk to the top for great exercise and to witness beautiful views of Granda below.

A 90s home in Amman, Jordan, entirely remodelled by local artisans. Neo-Florentine bones, Levant-eclectic sensibility, arched passageways, and a flea-market-meets-commissioned-art collection that makes every wall feel intentional.
What makes it work: restraint where you’d expect excess, and boldness where you’d expect safety.
This is what happens when a home is built by people who actually know the place. 🖤
Save this, it’s a masterclass in culturally rooted design.

Panic mode activated!
If you only have 10 minutes, focus on these three things:
1. Make the bed. It instantly makes the whole room look cleaner.
2. Fold or straighten the throw blanket and pillows.
3. Clear visible clutter from nightstands and the floor.
That’s it. Those three steps make the biggest visual impact without deep cleaning.
Save this for the next time you need a fast bedroom reset. 🔖

Black is not a bold choice. It’s a neutral, and one of the most versatile ones in design.
The rooms that get it right treat black the same way others treat white or greige: as a foundation that lets everything else breathe. The texture of the wall. The warmth of the wood. The drama of the marble. Black doesn’t compete, it amplifies.
Save this the next time someone talks you out of going dark. 🖤

Life when I’m offline. 🎣 On this trip to Park CitLife when I’m offline. 🎣
On this trip to Park City, UT, I was way off line with a little fly fishing. No emails. No DMs. No feed. Just a rod, a beautiful river, and however long it takes to catch something.
Running two brands means my brain rarely stops so when it does, it really does.
No fish were harmed. All fish were returned into the river.
What do you do when you log off? Comment and let's give each other some ideas!😀
