Bossy Color High Point Market Favorites

October 28, 2016

One of my BFFs from college, Amy Beaupré, works for D.C. based interior design company, Bossy Color, owned by designer Annie Elliot.  I was so thrilled when the Bossy Color team (Annie,  Amy and Christy) spent some time with me last weekend at High Point Market.  In the middle of their tour through the immense furniture market, they stopped by to see my new collection with Capel Rugs.  Instead of letting them speak to a proper representative, I took the very sweet Bossy Color on a hilarious 20 minute rag tag tour through the Capel Rug collection randomly pointing out only the rugs I loved.   I was so honored when during the my haphazard tour through the Capel showroom, the Bossy Color team asked to see my own rug collection.  It was a proud moment to take one of my dearest friends, Amy, through my very own rug collection.  Amy and her colleagues were so sweet and complimentary.  I appreciated their kindness.    As quickly as I was proud, we then proceeded to gab for far too long about what we loved the most at market.

Since I was only in Hight Point, NC for one day to stand at the Capel Rugs showroom meeting buyers, designers and press, I did not have time to tour the market. So I asked the Bossy Color team to send me their best market picks…

Here are Bossy Color’s top 5 picks from HP Market:

1. Tobi Fairley, Elle Chair with Brass (CR Laine)

“This chair is about as glam as bossy color gets, but it’s surprisingly versatile — and comfortable! We saw it in an amazing grass green chenille, but in a more neutral fabric, it would add modern sophistication to a library or living room.”

2. “Also at the CR Laine showroom, we saw an incredibly cool — and very bossy! — custom wallcovering made by Black Crow Studios. We can’t wait to find the right spot for it. We met Tracy Hiner, who was great and showed us more amazing photos of Black Crow Studios’ work.”

3. Kate Spade, Corbin Lamp (Visual Comfort)

“This adorable piece is a new release for the fall, and we noticed over our three days a new trend in lighting: table lamps 21″ H or shorter. These accent lamps are perfect for small spaces, including powder rooms, small tables and desks, bookshelves, and nooks.”

4. Long Chinese Chippendale Console Table

“Kenian Fine Rattan furniture was a happy discovery. Their painted gold console table stopped us in our tracks! The best thing about rattan furniture is that it never goes out of style. The bossy color team loved the special custom paint option, which is available on certain pieces of furniture, such as this console and other, smaller tables.”

5. Pendant light (Couture — so new it’s not on their website yet!)

“This three-tier pendant light was a delightful find. We think it can go from elegant to fun…the shiny blue finish just made us happy!”

A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. It tells you everything about the history of the space. The patina, the pattern, the way light moves across it. These are the rooms that prove good bones never go out of style.
What’s your favorite parquet pattern?

Designer Emma Donnersberg took her own Paris apartment in the 7th arrondissement and used it to rewrite the rules — classical bones, contemporary everything else. Her Wave Sofa and U&Me Table anchor the living room in organic curves. In the kitchen, a green ceramic-wrapped island does the heavy lifting for color against all that neutral stone. And the dining room? A Carrara travertine fireplace that turns stone into the whole point of the room.
Curved, curated, and completely hers. 🤍

A little peek at one of my favorite outdoor spaces, which I designed years ago. The patterned tile, navy seating, white stucco, and layers of greenery make this balcony feel like a little room all its own.
I love how much personality you can create in a small outdoor space without making it feel overcrowded.

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎
