Brass Chairs

June 21, 2017

I know the next sentence I write is going to seem weird…but…I have recently become obsessed with the1965 classic The Sound of Music starring Julie Andrews. I was flying back from New York a few weeks ago and we were stuck on the tarmac at JFK for about two hours so I decided to rewatch The Sound of Music.  This last few weeks at work I’ve been humming the songs in my head and trying not to sing aloud for fear my colleagues will think…”yes, now it is true, Coco has gone nuts.”.  Anyhooooo…one of the things I love in the movie is the setting in Salzburg, Austria…inside a beautiful house…with lots of ornate architecture and lots of brass and gold accents in the furniture and hardware.  Yes…I was noticing the decor…

Anyhooo….got me to thinking about all of the beautiful chairs I have been seeing lately with brass or gold detail.  While not traditional like the decor in my new favorite movie, I like the idea of having brass chairs to add a bit of elegance to a room.  Here are some ideas…

I LOVE the antique brass stools with a grey seat. I google image searched them and appear to be from 1st dibs Milo Bauman but have already sold. Do you know where I could find them or similar?

Hi Sara! Did you ever find the chairs? I too would love to know where these came from.

      Thank you

The bouclé sofa isn’t a trend, it’s a commitment. The bouclé sofa isn’t a trend, it’s a commitment. Soft, sculptural, and impossible to walk past without wanting to sit down. The rooms that get it right pair it with something unexpected: a dramatic mural, an antique screen, a city skyline, a hand-laid mosaic floor.

A well-designed bunk room isn’t just for kids. It’s about making every guest feel like they got the best bed in the house. Built-in storage, thoughtful lighting, and bedding that actually makes you want to climb up top.
Save this for your next build or renovation inspo and follow for more. 🖤

This Toronto home just redefined “warm modern.” 🤎 This Toronto home just redefined “warm modern.” 🤎
Designer Ashley Montgomery layered reclaimed wood beams, brass hardware, and deep walnut millwork against soft plaster walls, and somehow every single room still feels calm. The olive built-ins in the living room, the arched oak doors, that brass shower enclosure in the primary bath... this is what happens when someone actually commits to a palette.

How much summer can you fit into a few days? ☀️⛵️How much summer can you fit into a few days? ☀️⛵️
I flew from Los Angeles to Nantucket for a very quick trip and I’m planning to find out.
Beautiful beaches, boats, gorgeous interiors, time with friends and one last little dose of August.
Turns out you don’t always need a whole week to feel like you got away. 🤍
So happy to be visiting bestie @francesgfayard and her husband Calvin and my godson Carter for a little last minute end of summer travel. New England at its best. Day 1 was a beautiful day. 🤩
You are not going to feel motivated every day. AndYou are not going to feel motivated every day. And you don’t have to.
Some days you’ll feel inspired and everything seems to click. Other days, you’ll question what you’re doing and wonder if any of it is actually working.
The important thing is not to mistake a slow day for a step backward.
You can keep going even when the motivation isn’t there. Some days, showing up is the progress.
Save this for the days when you need the reminder. 🤍
