I know I have promised you bright and cheerful interior design every day this week. Yesterday I fell a bit behind in posting.
Here is my issue. Everyday, I start out with the best intentions of conquering the world. Right…those are normal intentions? Right…to conquer the world? Anyhooo…and every day life’s chores and errands get in the way. A computer program that doesn’t work, a sprinkler system that needs fixing, buying new light bulbs, paying bills, going to the grocery store, cleaning up after my aforementioned dog’s (Mr. Boo), running back and forth doing the same old things just to get things set up so I can conquer the world. The minute I think I’ve got everything in order, another errand comes up and keeps me from conquering the world (or least my to do list) again. I think a personal secretary would be good for me…someone to do all of my errands to free up my time to conquer the world. Conquer the world sounds nefarious…let me change the phraseology here…I just would simply like to accomplish my daily goals. That’s it. Need a day free of fixing stuff or cleaning up stuff or going to buy stuff. Don’t say it…I know…I should stop the whining…get over the day to day that everyone has to get through and …conquer the world. Note taken. Getting to it now. 🙂
Oh…one story as it relates to errands. I once was at a conference with some business colleagues and coworkers. My company called in a moderator to get the group working together and better communicating. The discussion moderator had us, a bunch of fancy executives (about 20 of us), all sit in a circle, and then she asked us to introduce ourselves, say our title (even though we all knew each other) and tell the group what are favorite hobbies were…what we each liked to do in our free time. As we went around the circle, each executive in the circle proudly chimed in about their weekend adventures of fantastic travel, amazing sport, distinguished cultural events…they talked about loving to read, paint, write, craft, cycle, run, work out, surf, sail etc. You get the picture. I talked about my love of riding horses (at that time I actually was riding horses around 3 mornings a week). Finally, the moderator got to the last person in the circle – a smart entertainment executive in her 30s named R. R looked around the circle and said, “My name is R and I am Vice President of XX. You know, I like to do all of those things that you all mentioned in my free time too…I really do…I like to read lots of books, go to the theater, travel, and I would love to run a marathon too…but if I am totally honest here about what I do outside of work in my free time…my real actual “hobby” on the weekend is …errands.”
In sum, my excuse for not posting yesterday is simply…errands. 😉
So, today, before the errands start crashing down on me, I bring you this amazing boutique hotel in Australia named Halcyon House. This is an examply of how bright and cheerful and optimistic spaces do not have to be all white. They can be full of color and vibrant with texture. Love the blue and white theme of the entire hotel. From the dining room, to lounge areas to the guest bedrooms and suites…all feature the perfect cheerful balance of brightness, color and texture. Who doesn’t love a burst of blue?
Have never been to Australia! Will have to make a trip there to get to this little hotel. Maybe that will be the next item on my list…”Go to Australia and visit Halcyon House to see the bright cheerful rooms and decor.” Check. On the list.

P.S. Had a nice long talk with good dear friend KT who called me last night from Boston. I have known KT for years. She is happily married mom of two amazing kids. She is wonderful. So funny…we hadn’t talked in ages but we picked up where we left off. Love her and her hubby CT. Miss them.
P.P.S. The fact that I can barely make it through everyday’s to do list for just myself is quite laughable and I don’t even have kids! My hats go off to all of you moms and dads out there…you really have a lot on your to do list!!
Thanks for the humor filled reminder that we all get speed bumped by errands. :p And the Halcyion House is certainly bright and beautiful!! And thank you for all the wonderful posts, so many of my pins are from them. Cheers!! 🙂
