CLEVER DESIGN ONE ROOM AT A TIME!

August 5, 2010

Dining room with whimsical chandelier and striped chairs with a notch on the top
A fanciful chandelier and striped chairs with a notch on the top make for a lovely modern dining room in this home outside of the city. (above)

Adore these rooms by New York interior designer Ellen Hamilton of Hamilton Design Associates. All show the designer’s versatile knack for taking on projects as her website says “one room at a time”. I like the fact that all of these spaces feel fresh and unique…not cookie cutter at all!

Kitchen with counter stools with a cut out on top, glass globe pendant lights hung at different heights, stainless appliances and blue tile backsplash
This kitchen is from the same home as the dining room above…it too features counter stools with a cut out on top and great glass globe pendants hung at staggered heights. (above)

Dressing room with blue curtains to hide storage and closet space and molded ceiling
Love this luxe looking little dressing room with its grand blue curtains that hide storage and closet space. (above)

Bedroom with upholstered doors and light painted "tile" on the wall
I first noticed the upholstered doors on either side of the entry of this bedroom. Cool! (above)

Two story living room with raised pyramid paneling and modern chandeliers
A two story modern living room features raised pyramid like paneling. (above)

Modern rustic dining room with a view
A modern rustic dining room with a lovely view. (above)

I like the dining room at the top the most. Which room is your favorite? See anything you would definitely want in your home?

Have a great Thursday!

I really love the stripes…, and the orange too! I’ve got the orange but have yet to incorporate some stripes.

The two-story living room and rustic-modern dining room are simple, elegant, and a minimalist’s dream.
Since I already own a modern rust colored couch, looks like all I need is the perfect white paint color to get my living room design project started. Any suggestions?

The turquoise dressing room is to die for! I also loved the idea of padded doors, so playful yet elegant.

I could live with some pyramid paneling in my house and it would go very well with my modern decor…..Very unique!
