Dining Room Lighting Love – Heracleum II

Heracleum II suspension light in an all white dining room.

This is dream lighting… Airy and modern with a bit of whimsy.  I have been eyeballing these light fixtures of well over a year now.  We went Labor Day furniture shopping this weekend.  Major holiday sales.  We walked into a West Hollywood furniture showroom and I immediately began drooling and panting over these lights again (not at all elegant behavior).  Even though TE and I both have distinctive design tastes we do align on certain things immediately…like these lights.  (He may have even began panting a bit too.)  He got quite a gleam in his eye.  Long story short…I think to save me from myself and to stop me from more unsightly drooling, my cute guy TE got these amazing lights for us…two beautiful modern chandeliers for our dining room lighting in Malibu! Wooohoooo!

The light is called Heracleum II from Moooi.  Named after a species of plants, this home accessory is the modern light manifestation of nature.

Here is a picture of our dining room. It has a steel and oak table TE found in Paris and we had shipped across the world and some temporary black metal cafe chairs in it right now. This look will change. We’ll be switching out the chairs and adding two of the Heracleum pendants above the table soon!

Our Malibu dining room this morning.  Temporary chairs and no dining room lighting yet but we do have our very own ocean view!

What do you think of this lighting find. Too modern…or just right? Love hearing your design opinions.

Happy Tuesday!

xo,
Coco

P.S. Had a fabulous Labor Day weekend. TE and I had people over the house for a tour on Sunday. My sis DS, my cousin CB and her family and my friends JH and MR. We gave them a tour of the property, had grapefruit mimosas and sandwiches on quite a beautiful day here in Malibu. We have little or no furniture but our guests didn’t seem to mind. Then on Labor Day, we ended up at a carnival in Malibu with TE and his son and all his friends…riding a ferris wheel and bumper cars and then finishing the day off with a fabulous barbecue. A great long weekend.

TE (on the right) giving my cousin CB and her family a home tour…out on our deck in Malibu taking in the ocean view!

In LUV with the lights! They are just going to float above that view, enhancing…instead of distracting from its beauty. Well done as usual.
Side note: I picked the very same kitchen faucet and took it in my suitcase to Las Terranes, Dominican Republic ( where we are building condo/villa) back in June.
Also I had also picked the very same Ceasar Stone and pattern for my girlfriends, new river home, I am helping to design.
Amazing that our design ideas are so similar!
I am so very happy for you and your TE’s new GORG ????????????????????????????????

I absolutely love the light fixture! It would be fun to have all year round, but I already feel inspired on how to decorate the room for the winter holidays. So fun!!!

I love the fixture! Sometimes super modern fixtures can be over the top, but this one from Mooi is definitely inspiring. Clean and simple.

Some homes just feel special the moment you walk iSome homes just feel special the moment you walk in.
From the limestone fireplace in the living room to the informal dining space, a peek into the scullery, and finally the kitchen where the island becomes the heart of it all, every space flows effortlessly into the next.
Thoughtful design. Beautiful light. A layout that truly works. ❤️
This is what a dream home looks like when vision and craftsmanship come together.

Part 2 - Marathon. So as the saying goes, “if at Part 2 - Marathon. So as the saying goes, “if at first you don’t succeed, try try again.” I will run a marathon. I will hit the road again, train again and I will run. Watch me. Last Sunday, however, wasn’t my marathon day...
I made the best of it nonetheless. If I couldn’t run, I was certainly going to be part of LA spirit and cheer the runners on.
As many may know, I was supposed to be running the Los Angeles Marathon last weekend. After 14 weeks of training and finishing my 19 mile run, I strained a muscle. I went to physical therapy every other day hoping I could still run, but the pain was still there the day before the marathon so I had to call it.
But an injury didn’t stop me from being there. I showed up to Rodeo Drive anyway.
I watched the elite runners fly by, tracked friends, and ended up cheering for three hours. Fast runners, struggling runners, and the later runners still grinding it out.
A friend texted saying she knew the day must have been hard for me. But honestly, it wasn’t. It was just fun, inspiring, and electric.
I will be on the road soon...running a race! Can’t wait!
Design starts underfoot. From checkerboard marble Design starts underfoot. From checkerboard marble to warm brick and classic parquet, these floors do more than ground a space. They bring texture, history, and character into the room. 🏁😍

A bedroom that feels like stepping into a story. A bedroom that feels like stepping into a story.
This stunning space is a beautiful example of timeless design. The canopy bed, scenic mural walls, and soft layers of green and blue create a room that feels both elegant and serene. ✨
Rich wood tones, classic antiques, and cozy textures add warmth, proving that traditional interiors can feel elevated yet deeply inviting.

So here I am. Or maybe more honestly, here I got. So here I am. Or maybe more honestly, here I got. This was 2 weeks ago.
Nineteen miles into training for my first marathon. Sixteen weeks ago I had never run before. I was a complete beginner, running three days a week, slowly teaching my body and brain how to do something totally foreign.
Somewhere along the way, running stopped being about miles. It became meditation. Rhythm. Breath. Focus. Control. A place where I learned how much of “this is hard” actually lives in our heads.
I still remember an early five mile run where I panicked after the first mile. Heavy breathing. Doubt. Wanting to quit. And then realizing nothing was actually wrong. I just had to think differently and keep going.
After this 19 mile run, my body had other plans. Injury. Two weeks of rest, physical therapy, and still no real ability to put pounding running pressure on my right leg. Marathon day is close and the outcome is uncertain. I am hoping for a miracle, but I am also being honest with reality.
At minimum, this was my marathon. Nineteen miles. A mental shift. A body that learned. Proof that we can do hard things even when the ending is unclear.
Whether I run on Sunday or not, I already crossed a finish line I never thought I could.
And here’s the part I think matters for you. Progress does not always look like a finish line. Sometimes it looks like showing up, rewiring your thinking, and staying with something even when the outcome is uncertain.
Part 2 is about what happens when plans fall apart and what I learned in the space between pushing and letting go. And we’ll find out if I can run on Sunday.
