Dream Kitchen – Lesson in Good Design

It is official. I have major kitchen envy going on today. This amazing home kitchen belongs to New York City’s Alison Cayne who also runs a downtown cooking school called Haven’s Kitchen. Leave it to a cooking school owner to have a fabulous personal kitchen of her own. The centerpiece of this stunning dream kitchen is the black Lacanche range – a premium stove made of steel, stainless steel and cast iron coated in black enamel with brass trim  really stands out(my mother has coveted these made in France stoves forever because of the quality craftmanship)!  The rest of the kitchen falls into place from there.  The dark grey cabinets with brass pulls and handles, the to the ceiling subway brick tile with dark grout walls and backsplash, a magnificent wall of open shelves displaying dishware and cookware. Love the way the glass french door trim matches the cabinet color.  All perfection.

I like to cook…would LOVE to cook in this space every day!!

What do you think…?  Do you think this kitchen is dreamy?

I absolutely love the open shelves. The warm wood adds great depth to the color palette.

Life doesn’t always look the way we imagined it woLife doesn’t always look the way we imagined it would.
There will be seasons when everything seems to be falling into place, and seasons when we’re simply trying to find our footing again.
Both matter.
You don’t have to rush through the hard seasons or feel behind because you’re not where you thought you’d be.
Give yourself permission to grow at your own pace. What’s happening beneath the surface matters too.
Trust the process. Trust your timing. Keep going. ✨

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎

The right chandelier doesn’t just light a room, it becomes the room. Scale, material, placement. When it’s done right, everything else arranges itself around it.

Summer is when this courtyard really comes alive.Summer is when this courtyard really comes alive. 🌸
One thing I’ve learned is that every outdoor space needs a focal point. It gives your eye a place to land and makes the whole space feel more intentional.
In this courtyard, the bougainvillea naturally becomes that focal point, adding color, height, and movement without overwhelming the space.
If you’re designing your own patio or garden, start with one standout feature, then let everything else support it.
Save this tip for your next outdoor project. ✨
