Was perusing through real estate listings in London for some reason yesterday…and somehow happened on this house in Beverly Hills. Makes no sense right…London…Beverly Hills. My mind works in mysterious ways so just roll with it today and don’t ask questions…because…this strange thinking pattern of mine lead me to this story… today I bring you the home of a former music legend – The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis! (for those of you under 30 who may be like…who is this guy Coco is talking about?…Elvis was a singing sensation in the 1950s, 60s and even 1970s before he died…Google him for more information…)
Today, in our See this House, the home tour of a $30 million dollar real estate listing. Once belonging to the rock and roll King himself, this Elvis Presley home in Beverly Hills is now on the market…again. According to Elvis archives, Elvis and his wife Priscilla bought this home at 1174 N. Hillcrest Drive, Beverly Hills back in 1967 for $400,000. After many changes of hands, most recently being sold in 2014 for $14.5 million, this home is now listed for sale for $30 million!
This mini estate is listed by reality television supporting cast member slash real estate agent Mauricio Umansky. It is 3 bedrooms, 5 baths in 5300+ square feet on a 51,000 square foot lot. Apparently, years ago, a developer wanted to tear down the house and start over…but Elvis fans threw a fit, so the house was instead rented out and then bought. Now, 2 years after being bought, it is on the market and seems to have a facelift. You can see one of the before photos below.
Here is the description from the real estate listing website:
“Perched on a coveted promontory in a quiet cul-de-sac, this 1.18-acre French Regency presents a unique opportunity to customize ‘a life above it all’ within the exclusive enclave of Trousdale Estates. Once the home of Elvis and Priscilla Presley from 1967 to 1973, this Beverly Hills residence enjoys sweeping city-to-ocean views of the world below.
Set far back behind gates and mature trees, a long driveway and four-car motor court lead to the newly renovated 5,400-square-foot mid-century residence and attached guesthouse by Rex Lotery. Maintaining spectacular bones for adding one’s personal touches, spacious interiors are magnified by high ceilings, warm hardwood floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows that let in abundant natural light. Features such as a luxurious master suite, skylights, fireplaces and coffered ceilings are complemented by contemporary updates such as stainless steel kitchen appliances, fresh paint, new flooring, an added laundry room, and upgraded electrical.
Ample outdoor lounging and entertaining space is offered throughout a large patio featuring a fireplace, resurfaced pool and spa, and lush lawns, set against breathtaking panoramic vistas.
Only minutes from the best shopping, dining and entertainment of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, 1174 N. Hillcrest Road presents an unrivaled opportunity to tailor and personalize a magnificent view estate.”
What do you think of this home?
Wait one second…we haven’t talked about the price tag. This feels really really high in my view…but I have never been on the market for a celebrity home nor do I imagine I ever will be…but $30 million? Well, fingers crossed that it sells. I wonder if it would be a record sale of some sort?
Hmmm…will watch this one…
xo

P.S. Elvis fans…I know you are thinking…”thank you very much” (said in Elvis voice). You are welcome.

Seems like the price is for the lot and location. But then, could you actually tear down a house previously owned by Elvis. Actually a pretty cool artifact for a true Elvis Fan 🙂
Beautiful property! No wonder The King lived there!
Absolutely gorgeous home and property! If i had the money, I’d buy it in a heart beat. TCB/ TCE
This is even more beautiful then Graceland……….
As far as I know, Elvis never owned the place but rented it………
