Dress option #1 – Carlos Miele navy silk beaded one shoulder gown I bought in Paris last month. (above and below) |
Here we go…I’m going to ask a favor of you. Please help me choose what I wear to the Emmys on Sunday. I can’t figure it out…so I need some help.
As most of you know…only because I’ve been blabbing about it for the last week…I am going to the Emmy Awards tomorrow! Woot woot. I’ve been three times already. First time was fun because we sat in row 7; second time was fun too; and truthfully the third time was so boring that we left the show early and met up with some agents at The Palm across the street until the show was over and the parties started.
So there you have it… my last experience at the Emmys was a bore…not what most of you would expect for a sparkling Hollywood event. Boring. That was three years ago I think…when they had a round stage and lots of hosts or something…I don’t really recall.
This year, I am hoping it will be fun. I think it will be. I know it will. I hope. I’ve been working everyone I know who is going up to a frenzy about what they will wear and what I will wear to walk the red carpet. It is all absurd to a certain extent and recognize there are people who have real issues and problems to deal with in the world. I am not that superficial to only think that my Emmy dress is the most important thing in the world. But since I am going to the Emmys, I must consider what to wear…I don’t think it would be appropriate to walk down the red carpet in my J Brand skinny jeans, some black Prada flats and a long sleeve C&C v neck t-shirt (what I am wearing now). It might mix things up a bit if I did wear this look down the red carpet.
So here is my little dilemma of the day…which of these two dresses should I wear to the Emmy Awards?
This first one is a silk navy Carlos Miele gown that I bought in Paris last month. I am nervous about wearing a one shoulder dress.
The second dress is an old Badgley Mischka I have had for years…you can’t really tell but it is a substantial black evening gown with a bit of a train and has a bit of a mermaid shape to it.
Dress #2 – Carlos Miele dress detail (above and below) |
Dress option #2 – Badgley Mischka gown from my closet. Black with sweetheart neckline, velvet, tulle and a bow. (above and below) |
Cute clutch purse – a beaded Judith Leiber bag I borrowed from my sis DS; I would wear this with Dress option #2. (above) |
My Emmy ticket is inside! (above) |
Okay…so it is between the Carlos Miele and the Badgley Mischka…I’ll tally up your comments and decide what to wear partially based on what you say. Help.
Just so you know, I am most comfortable in the Badgley Mischka – it is in my comfort zone. I feel like I need to do something out of my comfort zone though. Hmmmm….
Look forward to reading your comments. I leave at about 2PM PST on Sunday for the show…so up until then, I will be checking your comments!
Happy Saturday!
xo
Coco
P.S. Update Sunday morning: Thank you for all of the comments. Running to get my hair done…and still waiting to decide until last minute so any and all feedback is welcome. Have read each and every comment so far…seems the Carlos Miele is coming out slightly ahead in the popular opinion…but it is close so far…I’m hoping the Badgley Mischka gets a few more (LOL!)! So much fun and so helpful hearing from you all!
P.P.S. Make sure to check out the comments on COCOCOZY Facebook too!

They’re both pretty, but I vote for Dress option #2. Have fun!
Carlos Miele. Have fun. My friends who’ve gone before say that unless you’re nominated(are you?) its not that much fun. The parties afterwards however 😉
Comfort Zone or not, the BM dress is best for the event. And you’ve already borrowed the clutch bad for it!!! No brainer.
Dress Number 1. Why is no one else commenting though. Perhaps they want you to keep shopping? I am actually mixed. I love the lines of dress Number 2 better but not sure about the subtle stripes in it.
Definitely #1! Have fun!
i vote for dress #1. stretch a little, your comfort zone will thank you
The Badgley Mischka dress is lovely. Have a wonderful time!
go with the carlos miele, time to step out of your comfort zone. it is beautiful too! have fun.
#2 BM, for sure. Young, fresh, pretty. The Emmys are fun. The Academy Awards are heavy. Totally different vibe.
Dress number 1! Question? How did you get invited? That’s so cool!
I love the first dress Coco :)its simple but it has this amazing detail at the shoulder area. Keep the accessories simple and you will look super stylish!

Have fun!

hi def no.1 it is gorgeous, every girl needs a bit of glitter to shimmer and shine…have fun!x
My vote is for #1, but really both are fabulous. I like navy and am wearing a navy dress out tonight for a party.
Can you wear both? If both look equally good on you: #1 looks red carpetish with the bling at the shoulder–and the navy is kind of different and fresh. I’d wear that for red carpet and program. Then for the parties afterward, change into #2, so you have fun wearing both. Would use black purse for both–black and blue go together I’ve read.
#2 is sooooo amazing, that one!!
Carlos Miele for sure!!!! It has beautiful detail on the shoulder and is very elegant 🙂
They are both gorgeous but I love the Carlos Miele better for the Emmys.
The Badgley Mischka for sure!
#1…you bought it with the emmys in mind and you probably look great in it. It’s sparkly and fun. And one shoulder is so in right now. Wear it with the sparkle bag! Why not? Have fun!
They are both pretty but the Carlos Miele sparkly bead detail and cut is more elegant, and will turn more heads. The emmys is a perfect time to challenge yourself and stretch your comfort zone so pick dress no. 1!
I vote #1…navy is SO gorgeous and I am loving the one shoulder as well..with that gorgeous beading ! Love it.

I love both but my vote is for the Badgley Mischka
go for the carlos!
Badgley Mischka would be my choice for you! I think that this event is not the place to step out of your comfort zone. You’ll be aware of that bare shoulder all night, and enjoy yourself just a teensy bit less because of it. Save the personal growth for another occasion, dahhling. Go with what will make you look and feel great (and comfortable). And good point about the clutch. Badgley Mischka for sure.
Please wear the Carlos Miele! It’s gorgeous and the sparkle adds just that – a bit of sparkle for a special day.
Sleek updo for the hair to accentuate the neckline and shoulder detail…haha sorry been watching too much Project Runway!
Number 1! It’s so beautiful & perfect for the Emmys. What are you saving it for?
Number 1. Love it…it’s beautiful…you will be stunning.
Coco, #1. No question about it. It’s beautiful, rock the one shoulder and wear an updo. V is great with them (is she doing your hair?). Have a great time! 🙂
BM for sure- you are not an honoree so why look like one, no need to go over glamorous it looks like you are try too hard- BM is classy, simply and understated and more modern.
The Carlos Miele for sure.
Both dresses are great. Wear the one you are most comfortable in….it could be a LOOOOONNNGGGG night.
Dress #1, no doubt about it. You will look original, elegant. Stunning! The one shoulder detail is really a turning heads statement. Your dress #2 may be a couture art piece but is… plain and that detail in the back probably makes your “mermaid” contour too heavy 😉
Take pictures and show us… SHOES!!
I love Carlos Miele! Why? It has a little surprise sparks details on that dress which is “fabulous”! I understand that your comfortable with the solid color, because solid color is always safe. But hey, go for something different. =)
Great choice!
Oh, the Carlos Meile one! It’s GORGEOUS!
What Ruthita said. But the Badgley Mischka is also just a showstopper. Classically beautiful. It will show YOU off – not your beaded shoulder.
You’ll be stunning in either. But it’s definitely the Carlos Miele. That one screams style, sophistication and Emmy-worthiness!
Go with Carlos! The other dress is also very sexy & beautiful, but Carlos has sparkle and with that tissue it must move beautifully. Don’t wear a necklace with Carlos, wear earrings and if you want a bracelet on your opposite arm, but really you don’t need much jewelry with this dress. Even though you said the Emmy’s were boring last time, it must be so exciting to live in that world! Have a great time. I think either dress is a knockout but Carlos had me at hola! Let us know what you picked and how you accessorized. 🙂

Since you have been to the Emmys a few times before, you know how everything goes so I think it is a good place to test out a new dress as opposed to at a party where you will be more the center of attention. Also as the one shoulder shows less cleavage then the other and wrinkles from sitting probably show less too you might just find that this will be your more comfortable dress afterall. All depends on the shoulder fit, does it fit perfectly ie. shoulder doesn’t slip down and do you have a comfortable bra to wear underneath? Let us know what you picked and how you accessorized. 🙂
I keep going back to the Badgley Mischka and that beautiful beaded clutch. I’m in LOVE with #1, but the Mischka is elegant AND fun.
No question…dress #1. Midnight navy is so elegant and current.
I covet the CM dress – go for it! What better event to wear it other than the Oscars!
#1- the navy dress is fab!!
Both are gorgeous. But option #1 speaks more Oscars to me with its classy sexiness while option #2 speaks more television with its youthful sassy look.
The first is a knockout! Are your back and arms great right now? Which do you feel great in and that’s the one! Have fun. (I am an ex-fashion stylist)
Number 2
Badgley Mischka gown ….I think it leans alittle toward the retro …which is trending right now.
Oh, it’s #1 Carlos Meile for sure! While I understand about feeling a little naked or exposed with the one shoulder dress, you obviously have the body for this dress or you would not have purchased it. How do you plan to manage the train on dress #2? Perhaps something to think about?
Even though I love your second gown, now that you have shown it. Very lovely.
Still the fist is my choice, it is unique with the one shoulder and fabulous detailing!
Have a great time..
I am sure that I should know, however do tell Coco, how are you involved with the Emmy’s?

#1 FOR SURE!!!!
#2.
Besides, I think you should be “in” your comfort zone and perhaps you would enjoy yourself more than last time : )
Dee
Carlos Miele without a doubt. Navy is so classy and beautiful. Have fun!
Absolutely 100% no. 1. Have fun!
#2
comfort is key at the emmys so i am gonna vote for #1!
have a fantastic time! miss u!!
xoxo
Emily
Trains are a hazard-someone always steps on it. Go for the one shoulder gown!
Dress number 1. Take that one….and have fun/LOVE C
Carlos Miele! The dress is gorgeous!!
DEFINITELY #1… Navy is the new black.
Love the detailing ont he badgleymischka dress. the one shoulder thing is done to death no?
My vote is with #2.
Definitely the gown from Paris.
Carlos Meile! Clean and elegant!! With just the right pizzazz for the event. It won’t be boring with you in that dress!
Always go for the sparkle! (Advice from an old woman)
The BM is perfect. Sooooooo much classier and unique than the first one. Really… how many versions/variations/copies/imitations of the first one have we seen in the last 5 years?????
Trust me do the BM and shine!!!!
Go with the Carlos Miele! It is out of your comfort zone which is always a good thing 🙂 The one shoulder style is so Michelle Obama!!
Have fun!

No. 1
Carlos Miele is gorgeous! Wear that one unless you are actively looking for a new boyfriend. In that case, wear the BM to show off your figure.
Go for Carlos Miele!
I vote for #1 – but you must go with what you feel best in no matter what our numbers look like! It’s not the dress – it’s YOU in the dress and how that makes you feel.
I say have a wee glass of bubbly, try them both on – take a quick pic of you in each – then look at shots side by side and make a decision with your heart not your head. Then don’t look back.
It seems to me you can’t go wrong with either and it will be a fun night and great people watching. ENJOY!
Hope you are wearing #1! If getting your hair done, don’t forget to show it to you hair stylist. Afterall you have to have the proper coiffure to compliment it. 🙂
HAVE FUN!!!!!! -Brenda-
I think I´m late, but #1 is THE DRESS. Very elegant, with spark, classy yet modern. Go for it, no doubt!
Have fun!

Dress #1 is elegant. It says syle and Paris! Unless your going to the Oscars wear the dress for the occassion!
Oh, Option ONE, Carlos Miele for sure! Love the one-shoulder design, love that you bought it in Paris, and love the sparkle and bling. I’m sure the other frock is lovely, but taking a risk instead of wearing the “safe” dress is the best way I know to kick-start a wild and wonderful evening. Whichever you choose, have a blast and POST PHOTOS!!
dress #1 for sure! it’s beautiful. they’re both beautiful but that’s the winner. also that clutch is to die for.
Mischka all the way for me.
#1 Carlos Miele….its beautiful!!
