DESIGN IDEA: BOTANICALS ON BLACK!

September 19, 2011

country home hallway with a bench with white cushions, wood floor and a wall lined with 32 pressed botanicals framed in black and all on black

Love this country home hallway wall lined with 32 pressed botanicals…all framed in black and all on black. Striking I think and a great design idea.  I love the idea of large groupings of botanicals…these little framed studies of plants have a certain elegant and rustic charm – a great form of art!
Perfection!

Happy Monday!

P.S.  Haven’t forgotten the Emmy Awards and the dress story.  After making such a big deal of it all…I promise I’ll share details about the dress and the experience of going to the Emms in a DESIGN GUIDE video either tomorrow or the next day.  You won’t believe what happened by the way!

I don’t normally like so many pictures hung on a wall, but the simplicity and uniformity makes the wall work. A very nice job. Thank you for sharing with us.

The large display of black in black is very effective!

I gather that none of you Decoristas read the “Girl with the Dragon Tatoo” The wall of framed botanicals was a striking visual allusion in the novel.

A masterclass in contemporary wedding event designA masterclass in contemporary wedding event design, every detail feels intentional, layered, and deeply personal.
Designed by @bychenai, a prolific and talented London based wedding and events planner, this wedding is a study in thoughtful design and artful creative direction. We say well done Chenai!
Long tables arranged in a maze-like formation created a striking design, while still allowing 350 guests to move throughout the space. A rich brown and gold palette brought warmth and depth, paired with refined tabletops and lush floral centerpieces.
