GLASS CEILING & GLASS WALLS!

October 9, 2012

modern living room with glass walls and ceiling, a large floor mirror, neutral sofa, side tables and a coffee table

Hmmm…food for thought…a living room with a glass ceiling and walls.  Would be so bright and cheerful. It is a great idea if you have a private yard surrounding your space.  No need for art on the walls…the outdoors would serve as natural art.  I like these two glass enclosed spaces – sun rooms at their best.

What do you think?  Like the idea of a glass room or do you think it is impractical?  Would you ever want a solarium type space in your home as one of the main rooms? Do weigh in on the comments below!

I think this kind of space would work well where I live in the Hollywood Hills. Hmmm…thinking….

Happy Tuesday!

P.S.  Had a great dinner last night with AG and AS.  We went to a restaurant named Craig’s here in Los Angeles.  We were seated in a nice booth right in the front because AS is good friends with the owner. At the beginning of the dinner AS leaned over and whispered something to AG.  When I asked what they were talking about they both ignored me.  It didn’t cross my mind again about what they could have been whispering about. I proceeded to chat and they chatted and I chatted some more throughout the entire dinner.  I was waving my hands…laughing…talking up a storm…eating…chatting…having a ball.  At the end of the night, AG leaned over to me and whispered, “So cool that Elton John has been sitting right behind you all night.”  I responded, “Who?”  AG said, “Didn’t you notice right at the beginning of the dinner Elton John walked in…the whole restaurant went silent and everyone has been staring at him…I think the kid in the booth next to us even snapped a picture.”  AG then handed me her iPhone and flipped the image around so that I could see myself and low and behold right over my right shoulder two arms lengths away…there was mega singing super star Sir Elton John staring right back into the iPhone.  I immediately put the phone down.  Then to add to the comedy…all of a sudden an Elton John song, “Benny and the Jets” came on just as we were getting up from the table.  Anyhooo…all in a typically L.A. evening.

There’s sometime enchanting about being in a house that’s all glass and being in the middle of nature. It’s like camping but having the luxuries of being indoors =)

Beautiful but hope they have a full time window washer because it could get really unsightly fast!

I’ve always wanted a sunroom, but hot summers in the Sacramento Valley make it impractical. I especially like the first photo with the greenery just outside the glass! It would seem you were sitting among the trees

Looks lovely in beautiful weather, but what about bad? And I don’t think it’s nice to sit there after the sunset.

To summarize – it works only in very specific climates

Stunning space. I would love having this in all sorts of weather. Laying back watching a storm come in. inspiring.

The Art of Styling a Coffee Table! Begin by choo The Art of Styling a Coffee Table!

Begin by choosing a rectangular or a round shapes coffee table. They’re both timeless shapes that will complement almost every home design style: traditional, modern, contemporary, boho, farmhouse, etc. However, there are pros and cons of both.

Round coffee tables take up less space and are safer for children due to the lack of sharp edges. If you have a small living room or apartment then round coffee tables might be the right choice for you.

Rectangular coffee tables are more common, which means you’ll have more options while you’re shopping (this can be a good or bad thing depending on the shopper LOL). The rectangular shape is great for controlling foot traffic in a space and can take up a lot of empty space in a large room.

The decor process is all about levels, colors, and textures. It’s all about finding the right balance. The pros stack coffee table books to create height. You can add also add a candle, paper weight and/or a decor accent. Make sure to add your own personal style!

Do you prefer rectangular or round coffee tables?

A quick history lesson for this Monday morning. Th A quick history lesson for this Monday morning. This Spanish-style home located in Malibu is actually a museum. I visited the Adamson House a few years ago. The beachfront house was built in 1929 and sits on six acres. The home was designed by Stiles Clement for Rhonda Ridge and her husband Merritt Adamson. The Adamsons used the property as their beach house until 1936 when they started living there year-round. Rhoda's father, Frederick Hastings Ridge, was the last owner of Malibu making the Adamson House a historical landmark. No photos were allowed inside.
