GUEST POST: LE CATCH DISPATCH ON PASTELS!

Hi, readers! I’m Marlien Rentmeester from LE CATCH, guest posting for Coco.

Today’s topic: pastels.

Fashion-wise, they’re going to be ubiquitous this spring, from sorbet-colored Proenza Schouler bags to baby blue Chanel nail polish. All the major designers have jumped on board, including Jason Wu, Diane Von Furstenberg and Prada. As it happens, these gorgeous warm colors pictured in the outfit below–burnt orange and lavender–work well in the home as well: that’s my family’s sitting room pictured above that was featured in Lonny Magazine.

The color combination is counterintuitive, and yet they complement each other, blending together like the shades of an early morning sky. I am looking forward to wearing pastels and even pairing them, head to toe. The key to pulling off the look (both in your home and on your body) is to add in some tough accessories and a dash of black. This will keep things from looking too saccharine sweet. Here is an inspiring pastel combo to try:

Outfit with mint green sweater, pale pink pants, pearl earrings, a yellow purse and T-strap heels with a wooden platform and a yellow center strap

2. Aesa pearl stud earrings, $435, barneys.com
3. Alexander Wang drawstring leather Diego bag, $825, alexanderwang.com
4. Jimmy Choo platform sandals, $875, mytheresa.com
5. River Island pink skinny jeans, $61, riverisland.com

Even though it’s just January, I’m so ready for spring. I might just bust out my pastels now to quell my winter blues. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Wow, I think I got really lucky when I bought those Valentino soft peachy/pinky jeans on Gilt or another site last week! And, who doesn’t love pastels in the spring?? Lovely pieces and furnishings!
