HISTORIC IRISH COUNTRY HOMES!

Dark blue library with a fireplace, decorative ceiling molding, burgandy soffa, writing desk, portraits in traditional frames, purple curtains, a gold chandelier and red patterend carpet in Glin Castle in Ireland

Okay, so today, I’m bringing you images of some historic homes in Ireland! Really amazing images of houses belonging to Ireland’s aristocracy from years past.

These photos come from a wonderful book called The Irish Country House by Desmond FitzGerald, Knight of Glin, and James Peill (published by Vendome Press). So the book is co-authored by an actual Knight (I wonder if he is single and cute…hee hee…) who actually owns the castle shown right above and below.

The intricate architectural details are astounding (why don’t they make homes like this anymore?). This amazing old school architecture along with oodles of antique furnishings and family treasures give the impression that your being taken back in time on an incredible decor journey!

Thank you Meghan from Vendome for the book! It is fantastic.

There is something very romantic and mysterious about these homes. I would love to spend a day exploring one!

Hey readers, what do you think of this Irish country house architecture and very traditional decor?

Happy Monday!

I love everything about this home. If I could capture a little bit of this into my daily life, how awesome would that be?

Hi Coco. No, the Knight of Glin is not single. He has a beautiful wife named Olda. You can stay in the castle though if you ever visit Ireland. It operates as a small hotel as well as a private residence. It’s definitely worth staying in or visiting some of these great manor houses. They don’t build them any more because they are very expensive to run.

Irish country house is great, no words can describe it, for me if I will give the chance to live in it I will grab it because there’s nothing you will wish for it is fully complete of furniture you’re looking for. Congratulations to the architect who did it. By the way I like the bedrooms. So relaxing and feeling queen to sleep there.

This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millo This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millory @felixmillory , is defined by two things: a tightly controlled material palette and a sculptural art collection that runs through every room without exception.
Travertine frames every doorway. Dark smoked oak covers the joinery and cabinetry. Grey marble runs across the kitchen counters and island. Within that framework, figurative sculptures on the shelves, a large totemic piece at the entrance, stone forms on the dining table, a large-format artwork in the kitchen. Every room has at least one object that demands your attention. 🗿
