Tip #1: Throw Away Expired Products
Most skincare products have a shelf life of about one to two years. If a product is past its expiration date, it may not be as effective and could potentially cause irritation or other issues. Bacteria can also build which will cause even more skin irritations and breakouts. So it’s time to throw out anything that has a 2021-2022 expiration date. And if you have anything earlier then 2021 then it’s definitely time to throw it away! LOL
Tip #2: Listen To Your Skin
Your skin can actually tell you exactly what kind of products to invest in. Pay attention to changes in your skin: If you notice that a product is no longer providing the same benefits it used to, or if it’s causing irritation or other issues, it may be time to switch to something new. As we age gracefully, it’s important to discover new products that will actually help our skin stay hydrated and smooth.
Tip #3: Shop New Skincare
This is my favorite tip. Because who doesn’t love adding new products to their collection? It’s always a good idea to try out new skincare products to see if they work better at enhancing your skin. Just be sure to introduce new products slowly and pay attention to how your skin reacts.
Pro Tip: Make sure not to pair certain skincare products with others on the same day. Some products do not work well with others. According to InStyle, do not mix retinol with vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide, and AHA/BHA acids. It can cause skin irritations.
Tip #4: Research! Research! Research!
When replacing old skincare, it’s a good idea to research the ingredients in your skincare products to make sure they are safe and effective. Not all products work for everyone. What kind of skin texture do you have? Oily? Dry? Combination? Discover the right products and routines that work for your skin!
I hope this blog helps improve your winter skincare routine!
