Imagine moving from New York City to Portland Oregon, finding an 8000 square foot industrial building that once housed a grocery store, printing press and mechanic’s garage and then building a 2400 square foot living space loft on top and call it home. Tah dah!!
Seems like home purchasing could be easier…but according to an article from the New York Times, one high powered New York City couple left the the east coast for a big life change and moved west to Oregon to do just what I outlined above.
Anyhoo, the results of the efforts of this couple (Joan Childs and Jerry Zaret) and their architecture firm Emerick Architects is a quite wonderful modern industrial loft in southeast Portland.
Happy Wednesday!

P.S. Have been at home these last few days. Out sick or injured I should. Not to share too many gorey details but my injury story has to do with a leisurely dog walk with TE, Mr. Boo (my 15lb Chinpoo) and Moose (TE’s 100lb Great Pyranese Golden Retriever mix) and clumsy me tripping over the dogs while jogging alongside them. Yikes. Oy. My goodness. All of this happened early morning on Super Bowl Sunday. Needless to say…after a visit to the emergency room, an trauma endodontist and the pharmacy, we made it to my place in time to watch the Super Bowl! Wooohoo?!?@#$%
