Am considering redoing my wood floors in my tiny tiny cottage in the Hollywood Hills.
I love a herringbone patterned wood floor. This English house has herringbone floors and I love. My preference would be to have this pattern wood floor but in a much darker stain (somewhere between brown and black) and letting the natural grain of the wood show through so it feels a bit rustic.
Check out the floors in this house…not the color…check out the pattern…do you like?
What do you think of this pattern of wood floor? Like or dislike? Why or why not? Should I venture to put a darker version of these floors in my little cottage in the Hollywood Hills? Or should I just go for a basic dark wood floor? Oh me oh my…what’s a girl to do?!?
Please weigh in!
Happy Friday!

P.S. Had a great lunch with AA and ST yesterday at some organic healthy food place in Culver City called Akasha – the decor was fab and the food was delish. Somehow though the organic healthy food place served burgers and pizza. Hmmmm. I stayed true to the restaurants alleged vision and had the very healthy quinoa and it was delicious! Hmmmm…I might officially be on a health kick (what?)….oh dear…I take that back…I don’t like those people who always talk about being healthy and kind of look down on everyone else who eat all kinds of food. I still have not had bread, pasta, sugar or dried mangoes…the things I gave up for Lent…even though Easter has come and gone…that is the only reason I’ve mentioned health kick. I’d like to note that I have had champagne and french fries since Easter…so I guess I’m on a COCOCOZY version of health kick! Quinoa, kale, champagne and french fries! Woohoo!!! 🙂
P.P.S. Last night went for drinks at Cecconis again…met up with interior designer Emily Ruddo of Armonia Decors and had some nice champagne and snacks.
P.P.P.S. I’ve been invited to a dinner party tonight. A guy friend I know invited me…I know he’ll never read the blog so I’ll chat about my non dilemma dilemma. Have been running around like a chicken with no head with my regular work and my COCOCOZY collection work…not a moment to breath. Do I go to the dinner party or stay in this Friday and rest? I’ve been out every night this week. Help. A first world problem I know…but…
P.P.P.P.S. Happy Friday!

If the evening will result in you being exhausted tomorrow, I don’t think its quite worth it. However, if he is tall dark and handsome you have NO choice, you must go!
ps the floors are gorg! Love the classicness and texture they bring.
Go for the herringbone!! I recently, sold a penthouse I lived in for 15 years…I had Tiger wood with a chestnut stain and in various areas
I did an inlay of deep walnut. I swear I got the highest price for the unit…Because of the herringbone floors. Now, I am going to do it again and bleach out the floors.
Just go for it!! Happy Friday to you.
i like the place its so beautiful. I actually like the pattern of the wood floor. I think it goes perfectly with the overall feel of the apartment and furniture
Obsessed! I want them everywhere!
moi aussi!
go for the herringbone!

I love the herringbone floors with the light stain, but I think they’d look good with the dark stain as well.
Re: the dinner party – do you really want to go or would you rather stay home and rest? Only you can answer that question ….
<3 <3 <3 herringbone floors!!
LOOVE the herringbone – and party tonight, definitely! (as long as you like the people who will be there)
We had herringbone parquet in our last apartment and I loved it. I miss it a bit now. It added an extra dash of texture to each room, but in a really unobtrusive way. And the best thing was that the more worn it got the better it looked. I’d go for it! x
we’re building a new home right now and i’m planning ebony stained floors – herringbone pattern in both foyer and dining room. i’m slightly obsessed with that pattern! just saw a herringbone kitchen backsplash on pinterest that i am swooning over right now!
I say go out and cut loose!
Go for the herringbone, it is different and beautiful!
Go with herringbone in a lighter tone. I have dark wood floors and they look dirty and dusty every single day. Boo
Absolutely amazing!
I love the herringbone whitewashed floors. The rooms seem so light and airy!
Such a dream space.

These floors are chevron, not herringbone, pattern. Both are beautiful options, but are different in how the planks intersect.
Absolutely go with herringbone, it always looks spectacular and I’m sure you’ll never regret it. Hope you went out for dinner with the guy…maybe we’ll be reading about a budding romance in your next ps’s….;) 😉

The herringbone floors are lovely but I love my classic rich dark floors and they are not as hard to keep as everyone warned me. Either way, your floors will be yours and be beautiful!

I think dark wood looks more stunning and visually appealing as it is a great contrast maker but as the post above points out, it is much harder to maintain…decisions decisions! Love the pattern though 🙂
Go for the herringbone looks amazing!
I concur! Go with the herringbone in a bleached wood. I’m going to redo the floors in our sun room and will be doing that pattern.
I love dark floors but the herringbone lighter is quite beautiful. Its such a pretty floor, dont’ think you can go wrong period.
i love the herringbone pattern… not sure about bleached wood.. thinking darker and richer… ssooooooooo..
Did you go last night???
Hello from Sweden!
I LOVE the floors in the kitchen and am yelling at the top of my Swedish voice that you should keep them pale and limed like in the picture. It is fresh and not that commonly seen, but so authentic and I promise you will not regret it. And I am saying this with generations of happy Scandinavian light wood lovers in my back! 🙂
Good luck!
