KARDASHIAN KITCHENS – THIS OR THAT

My mother is a Ph.D. college professor who spends much of her time reading, writing, teaching, and staying on top of current world events.  One current event that she is not in tune with is the Kardashians.  Late last year, my sis DS and I were over my mother’s house and we were talking.  Sis DS, an attorney by trade, was pouring over the pages of the latest InTouch magazine (not the kind of literature my mother had hoped either of us would frequent).  DS and I were discussing the latest important ins and outs of celebrity news.  Sis DS pointed out a picture of the Kardashians to me.   My mother overheard her and said “But what is a Kardashian? I have heard talk of this but I do not understand.  What is a Kardashian?”  Sis DS and I then explained.

Never thought I would do it but here is my first Kardashian post!  It all stemmed from me seeing Kourtney Kardashian’s house shown on several websites last week (Domaine Home had a great overview of Kourtney’s house…it was designed by the very nice celebrity interior designer Jeff Andrews).  Seeing the photos of Kourt’s kitchen got me thinking about their family’s  famed E! Entertainment t.v. show (yes I admit I have watched) and how often the Kardashians (Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and Kris Jenner) are often in their kitchens. (Deep thinking clearly on my part…!)

So today…I’ll make it simple…you get to pick…which Kardashian kitchen do you like best?

Happy Tuesday!

I like Kourtney’s best! The other two are just TOO simple! Some pops of color never hurt anyone. I’m not a big fan of the mirror in Kourney’s though. I can do without seeing myself stuff food down my throat. 😉

I would have to say I like Kris’ kitchen better cuz of the floor, the chandys & the all white, although I really like Kourtney’s wallpaper pendants & counter stools

While I cannot stand to watch the show because all I see are them eating food by picking at it with their fingers or making sure the fork does not touch their perfectly lined lips, (and who can tolerate those voices!) their money has certainly bought them some beautiful homes and kitchens. Does anyone cook ?

Ugh, I have to admit that I have watched the show a few times out of sheer boredom. Diane’s comment above cracks me up – they do have terrible, loud, annoying voices and are prone to say “like” a billion times per minute and no, nobody cooks in that family except for their chefs. Can’t blame ’em on that one, though. I’d have my own chef if I had their “hard-earned” money.

But to answer your question, Coco, I vote for Kourtney’s kitchen, the others are a tad too kitschy for my taste.

I like Kim’s the best. The windows let in much needed natural light and the fireplace is pretty cool. I think Kourtney’s is the next best, except no windows. And Kris’ has just too much going on with the heavy chandeliers and all the details on the cabinets.

I like Kourtney’s the best. The other ones just seem colorless for my taste.

Designer Emma Donnersberg took her own Paris apartment in the 7th arrondissement and used it to rewrite the rules — classical bones, contemporary everything else. Her Wave Sofa and U&Me Table anchor the living room in organic curves. In the kitchen, a green ceramic-wrapped island does the heavy lifting for color against all that neutral stone. And the dining room? A Carrara travertine fireplace that turns stone into the whole point of the room.

A little peek at one of my favorite outdoor spaces, which I designed years ago. The patterned tile, navy seating, white stucco, and layers of greenery make this balcony feel like a little room all its own.
I love how much personality you can create in a small outdoor space without making it feel overcrowded.

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎
