COCOCOZY x etúHOME: Behind the Collection

August 23, 2021

The collaboration between COCOCOZY and etúHOME began over a year ago. It all started on a phone call with Stacy Borocz, the founder and owner of etúHOME. During an important time in our history, Stacy expressed wanting to collaborate with a black designer. We developed a special friendship that led to this beautiful collection. The hardest part about creating this collection was keeping it quiet. I have this disease from college called O.S.S. (Oversharing Syndrome). It is a huge relief to finally announce this collection to all of you.

The Phone Call

Stacy and I had numerous phone calls brainstorming ideas of what our collection will look like. Stacy works with a design team based in Hungary. They create beautiful products, but nothing spoke to me. I turned away from my computer screen and saw one of my COCOCOZY pillows on the sofa. Then it clicked! Since I started COCOCOZY ten years ago, I have designed 60 copyrighted textiles. I pitched the idea of engraving my logo and designs on boards. Stacy loved the idea and ran with it!

Here are the first samples that I received of the boards.

About the Collection

The collection is a culmination of quality, details, and European inspired pieces. Everything is intentional and comes from classic roots. It features old found boards from the south of France that has been been enhanced and refurbished in modern designs.

The Photoshoot

Snapped a quick shot of one of the looks from the shoot.

Due to the pandemic, I produced the photoshoot with the etúHOME team via Zoom. The team used Stacy’s house to create tablescapes and other sets to capture the products. It was a really fun experience and the team was incredible!

Sometimes design can be intimidating to the average shopper. Designers create bold prints that can be too overwhelming for your home. This collection feels very relatable. There is a product that will compliment anyone’s home. My collection is artisan hand-crafted  products that are meant to be used in your home. Each design has a purpose and a reason.

Unpopular opinion: a great tapestry does more for a room than a great sofa. Agree or disagree? Drop it below 👇

Low light. Lacquered walls. A kitchen wrapped in hand-patinated brass. An antique mirrored bath with painted bamboo panels. A bedroom in floor-to-ceiling leopard print that somehow feels calm. Maximalism that whispers.

Did some quick math and realized I might be sitting on a gold mine. 😂
New business idea? Lemon mogul? Freshly squeezed startup founder?
Stay tuned. Lol.
