I have a friend, JG, who has homes in Palm Beach and New Orleans. She was visiting L.A. awhile back and I met up with her at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge where she showed me some fantastic photos of the renovation of her New Orleans home. The kitchen was to die for and included a fantastic brass hood over the stove. She had it custom made and it was awesome.
After seeing that kitchen with its brass hood, I started to become obsessed with brass accents. Have always been a silver toned hardware person…but now I’m starting to be open to other metals like brass. Why not try brass pendant lights, faucets and drawer pulls as seen here. I like.
Also loving the mosaic tile backsplash.
What do you think of a little brass here and there? What do you think of this kitchen? Like or dislike?
Happy Veterans Day! Happy Friday! Happy 11/11/11!

Hi Coco, I think the kitchen is beautifully executed. I just did a post on the impact of black and white. I love it. It’s interesting how design trends come and go. Brass had lost favor for awhile, but now it seems fresh and interesting–especially in this space.
All the best, Cindy
Love your blog! (I’m a new follower). Well, my dream kitchen is black & white, so I believe that the second pic is really great!

I love everything about this kitchen from the black and white floors to the black and white tile backsplash. The brass lanterns and other brass detailing give it a warmth that nickel could never. It’s perfect!
Love this kitchen! I love all the different elements, especially the brass. I added it to my pinterest!

love the kitchen!
I really like this white kitchen! The brass finish on the light fixtures and hardware, mixed with the warm wood tones of the furniture make this kitchen divine! Makes me want to whip up a meal!

I am a brass addict. I hated it growing up because my grandmother had tons and tons that she made us clean every 2wks
I just did a post on gold and brass accents yesterday. It’s really growing on me! I love that bowl in the kitchen and the lights…it’s a bold move but a great one that ties in that amazing stove.
this kitchen looks really nice!!

Gorgeous! I’ve always been a silver toned person too but LOVING the brass/gold accents… Also great in flatware!
Love the brass, love the kitchen….it’s beautiful!!
You know, Michael Paine (the interior designer who originated the HGTV Designing for the Sexes show) was in Charlotte a couple of months ago speaking at our local chapter meeting, and he mentioned brass hardware as a growing trend for drapery hardware as well. Brass? Haven’t we all just barely finished ripping all the brass out of our clients’ homes and replacing it with weathered bronze and satin nickel finishes?! Nothing really goes away in interior design; it just cycles back around with a fresh twist to make it FEEL new. Your friend’s kitchen is beautiful, and I agree, the brass accents feel refreshing and chic.
I’m digging the brass too. I thought I was over it, but now I’m loving it–again. It has a military/equestrian/utilitarian beauty. My revival was entirely resurrected by a kitchen I found by accident and featured on our last post. Come by and peek.
Best,
Liz
I think the difference with the 80’s brass phase and today’s newest trend is the patina of the brass – it’s not shiny and obnoxiously bright. It has an aged, lived-in feel…which also is on trend…it makes sense.
I like them… especially against that wallpaper…Happy weekend…. xv
Gosh, such a stunning kitchen!
I know this post is old, but do you know what company this tile is from?
