LIVING ROOM DECOR – 3 WAYS TO USE A THROW BLANKET

March 5, 2014
  • Share

Wondering how to inject a little bit of style into your living room without having to buy big new pieces of furniture. For around $300, a simple luxe cotton throw blanket in a geometric pattern can do the trick.

See how one COCOCOZY Throw Blanket adds style to three very different living spaces.

Navy blue Gate Throw Blanket

1. ACROSS THE BACK OF A SOFA (below)
You might recall your grandmother having a blanket of some sort across the back of her sofa…well this is the sleek modern update to that look!

A navy blue Gate Throw Blanket neatly folded across the back of living room sofa in a Boston apartment (above)

2. DOWN THE MIDDLE OF A CHAIR (below)
In lieu of a throw pillow, use a geometric print throw to decorate a comfy arm chair in a living room.

A tan Gate Throw blanket is draped down the center of a big armchair and tucked under the seat cushion in a small Los Angeles cottage (my house before I redid the living room) (above)

3. DRAPE OVER SOFA ARM (below)
For a delicate approach to using a throw blanket as an accent piece, simply drape over the arm of a chair or sofa.  Make sure the throw color picks up some of the colors in your space to tie everything together.

Rust colored Gate Throw is placed over the arm of a sofa in a cute Seattle living room.  The orange throw picks up the colors in the art and pillows. (above)

A quick history lesson for this Monday morning. Th A quick history lesson for this Monday morning. This Spanish-style home located in Malibu is actually a museum. I visited the Adamson House a few years ago. The beachfront house was built in 1929 and sits on six acres. The home was designed by Stiles Clement for Rhonda Ridge and her husband Merritt Adamson. The Adamsons used the property as their beach house until 1936 when they started living there year-round. Rhoda's father, Frederick Hastings Ridge, was the last owner of Malibu making the Adamson House a historical landmark. No photos were allowed inside.

I used to live in a cottage in Los Angeles. So whe I used to live in a cottage in Los Angeles. So whenever I come across a cottage rennovation I get excited. I discovered this charming English cottage on @houseandgarden. The home is dated back to the 16th century. The new owner wanted to add her personal style inspired by Scandinavian interior design and her time spent in Portugal. So many beautiful details in every room. Which room is your favorite?
