Malibu Home Renovation Project Video – Progress Report

July 29, 2015
  • Share

The latest Malibu home renovation project video is here along with some photos below.  This is the quickest tour in the world of the bedroom areas in our house.  Beware, video taken with my phone as I was running through the house this morning.  You may not be able to hear me at some points and my video skills are not at all professional!

Anyhooooo…..we are just days away from moving into our Malibu home renovation project. My guy TE and I have been working on this house for over a year and now the time has come for us to move in together. It is our dream house. We love it. Makes us happy to be there. That is the good news…

The questionable news I have to report today is that the house is far from ready! All is good but the house still needs just a little more work…errr…a lot of more work actually. I am finding this all quite amusing today…last week it stressed me out…today I understand it is what it is and we’ll make things work. We are lucky to be moving into this wonderful home…so a little sawdust, some paint, drywall, nails, drills and hammers will be part of our world for awhile.

We have been out to Malibu every morning and most evenings to check out progress on the finishing touches. Progress has been super duper incredibly slow. We love our contractor GB but the hopes of us moving into a finished house have long been abandoned. We are moving into a house still under construction! TE has given up his place by the beach in L.A. and I have been packing up things in my tiny little cottage in the Hollywood Hills…getting ready for our end of the month move. We have movers and TE has no residence at the end of the month…so we are locked into moving even though the house is not done!

I had this dream way early on that construction would finish…the keys of the house would be handed over…I would have a cleaning service come in and do a wonderful and thorough clean of the empty space and we would move our things into a pristine finished brand newly remodeled home. Check out the video and you let me know if you think the dream will come true in a matter of days?!? Hee hee.

Today when we went to the house and realized that progress is moving at a turtle’s pace…both of us had to chuckle and throw our hands up in the air. I guess my new roommates will be my guy TE, his son, and a whole construction crew! This process of remodeling a house with my guy as taught me that you can plan and push as much as you want with construction but ultimately things take longer than you thought! Learning to be flexible!

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the rooms and the work in progress!

View of the Pacific Ocean from the master bedroom corner window of our home in Malibu.  The entire house is under construction but the view is all set…no work to be done there!

Our beautiful glass jug kitchen pendant lights arrived!

First coat of paint has gone up in the living room…windows are covered in plastic. No ocean view until we move in!

Some of the Caesarstone ktichen counters came in from the stone fabricator. They look fab!

We cut down a super deep commercial grade stainless steel kitchen sink that is 36″ wide to be installed in the kitchen island. Notice it is not installed yet!

Kitchen is in progress…no island, no appliances, no vent hood installed! Oh boy. 🙂

These are our white bronze door levers from Ashley Norton. They are perfect!!! We’ll use them on exterior and interior doors. They are very heavy and substantial and they have a bit of texture to them…like a pounded metal.

Good news! Our oval freestanding tub is in! The moonstone wall and the marble mosaic floor tile look good too.

Here we go….will keep you posted.

Happy Wednesday!

Thank you for posting pics of your home reno! It’s gorgeous! We’re doing a home reno of our own and I was curious about your tub. Would you mind sharing the source?

Behind-the-scenes: Fun work trip to visit the COCOBehind-the-scenes: Fun work trip to visit the COCOCOZY bedding collection at the Welspun showroom in New York. Met with some buyers, had a fun time with the Welspun team, then capped off the weekend with a visit with friends. It is a long process to get bedding in stores across the country...showing the collections at textiles market is one of the first steps!
If you're interested in learning how I have gotten @cococozy products into stores around the country over the years including in major retailers...follow along...just one entrepreneur's journey. :)

Today is my birthday but...I don’t want to celeb Today is my birthday but...I don’t want to celebrate...I want to help.
I want to make a meaningful impact in our greater Los Angeles community suffering from the fires. I invite you to join me in transforming birthday wishes into support for one local organization on the ground in Pasadena/Altadena.
I have made a contribution today already to the LA Fire Relief Fund created by @victorybiblechurch in Pasadena. They are actively assisting families in need in both Pasadena and Altadena who have been affected by the devastating Eaton Fire.
Although I don't have a personal connection to Pastor DeCuir or the church, I was searching for an organization that is helping in the Altadena area. A well respected civil rights attorney I follow @leemerrittesq is on the ground helping the church members and community members with legal services in the wake of the fires. I hope by contributing to their efforts, we can extend a helping hand to those facing significant challenges during this difficult time
To donate, please visit their website at https://vbcpasadena.org/ (link in bio as well). Every contribution, no matter the size, brings hope and relief to those who need it most. Tell them you heard about them from me.
Your generosity to the Los Angeles community is the best birthday gift I could ask for.

Happy New Year! 🎉✨ As we step into this freshHappy New Year! 🎉✨ As we step into this fresh chapter, I’m reminded of the beauty of starting anew and I like recommitting to goals at the top of the year. Nothing set in stone but just an overall vision of what I'd like to do and who I would hope to help along the way.
This year, my mantra is: **dream big, act boldly, treasure the small joys, continue to lead with kindness and to have as much empathy as possible for others **. Just a few things...😂
I’m also deeply committed to helping people who follow along to achieve their dreams. I'll be curating captivating interior design inspiration with COCOCOZY that will hopefully give you ideas and dreams for your own space. I will also be empowering you to realize the value of your influence with Chirpyest by earning cash back for sharing and shopping. I hope to be open about the journey of the COCOCOZY product line. I want to share real time behind the scenes how the line is being built and how we are growing Chirpyest; both examples of the not so linear journey of building businesses from the ground up. I hope these stories spark you to push your own boundaries and shake out of your comfort zones.
Lastly, in 2025, I’m committed to surrounding myself with people who have a positive vibe about them while striving to be that same light for others. Luckily, I have a great start on this with an amazing family and fantastic group of friends - a fantastic support network.
My wish for you in 2025: May this year bring you clarity, courage, and the confidence to pursue all that makes you happy.
What’s one thing you’re committing to in 2025? Let’s inspire each other in the comments! 💬❤️
Let's get to this...am ready 2025!
